I have done lots of research about what will help be go back to the person that I once was. I have a lot of stressful things going on in my life. I am starting to feel like my anxiety is effecting huge parts of my life when it shouldn't. Mostly I would like to know what type of doctor you would recommend that I go to see so that I could discuss this with him/her. Of course if anyone else has any input please let me know.

After opioids and alcohol, benzodiazepines are the next in line for the most highly abused and addictive medications. Because of this they are regulated as a controlled substance and doctors must adhere to these regulations. It's a very iffy situation these days and most doctors prefer to prescribe the standard antidepressant/anxiolytics or buspirone which treat the cause of the anxiety rather than just masking the symptoms.
You need to find a civil, educated Dr. that has a lot of talent and potential. Also it is impairative that he or she listens to the patients needs after all it is we thwe patients they receive their pay and make their living. Well that's about it also it doesn't hurt if they have a great personality. A good Dr listens to their patients needs and supplies them with what they need, after all the patient knows better than the care provider what medicines work for them.

I'm not trying to be rude, or insensitive about your situation at all. Honestly, at this late date, I'm not even sure you're still alive. Anyway, I wouldn't be taking ANY benzodiazepines with stage 5 kidney disease. You're on borrowed time as it is. Once you hit stage five, unless you get a kidney from someone, you only have weeks, maybe a month to live. Most only have days. Benzos are super demanding of the liver AND kidneys. With you suffering end stage renal failure, you're playing with fire. This is going to sound ridiculous but hydroxyzine works almost as well as alprazolam. I was on 1mg 4 x per day. My doctor moved to another city, and needless to say, I was out of xanax and no way to get any. So, I tapered myself down to 1/4mg 1x per day, then quit! About a week before, my dr. Had me start taking 50mg 1x per day of the hydroxyzine.
Once I was off the xanax completely, I took 100mg 4x per day
Man does it work. I thought great, this stuff is going to be crap and I'm going to go into severe benzo withdrawal. Not so, IT WORKED , and still works to this day! I was on xanax for 24 years. I've now been off of it for 3 years and hydroxyzine still works like a champ. Read about it. It's one of the safest drugs, out of all drug categories that exists. I'm so thankful for that E.R. doctor who prescribed it the first time. Let me tell you though, when he gave me my 1st script, I wanted to punch him in the face for not giving me my xanax back. I just knew this crap wasn't any good and this Dr. Was a complete dumbass! Turns out, I'm the DA, lol. I'm the one who didn't know anything. Don't knock it before you try it.
One final note. I have PTSD, G.A.D. Severe Panic Disorder and clinical depression to name a few. My panic attacks had gotten so bad that they would wake me from a dead sleep, pouring sweat, heart pounding like 200 bpm, and I was TERRIFIED!!! I had panic attacks like this several times a day
No triggers, no rhyme or reason, they would just come on out of left field and hit me like a speeding freight train. My panic attacks were so bad that they actually caused me physical problems with my health. At 24, a lean, fit, amateur body builder, and I had a type of heart attack. I passed out in the booth at an Arby's. I woke up in the E.R. with people cutting my clothes off jamming iv's in both arms. I was in A-Fib and they couldn't get my heart to convert to a normal sinus rhythm. It finally did, 3 days later in cardiac intensive care. Other times, I'm so sure that I'm dying that nothing can change my mind. Once the terror is at its pinnacle, I lose consciousness. To put it gently, I have ungodly, horrific panic attacks. They're now almost completely controlled with hydroxyzine. Best of luck to all of you.
I just read your post, and you have giving me hope. I am 51 y/o man, and I have been on xanax and klonopin for over 25 years. I am Bipolar, suffer from OCD, anxiety, anger issues, PTSD. Anyway I have a Dr.´s appoinment and will bring hydroxyzine up as I want to quit benzos.
I'm really sorry to hear about the sever horrific panic attacks. I just want you to know that i have similar attacks and i need something, it's a need not a want.. I don't hardly sleep at all. So anyway they have me on methocarbonal and buspirone. You give me hope though you say hydroxyzine helps and i have that. It's only 25 miligrams but i am gonna try it. Go to your local mental health facility. This will be your best option. Avoid your local clinics LIKE the plague
My husband. Started a new job on pipe line I for got to grab my bag of meds about 4 hours from my house can a er dr or a walk in Dr. Give my meds to me until I find a family Dr and can a walk in Dr give me xanax or valums for panic attacks I left my pro air my diet pill my ulcer pills all them I have no way bk home to get them they didn't have refills to transfer from pharmacy plz I need help bad thank u

I am homeless I have kidney disease stage five am in a lot I of trouble I have had alepecia since I was five years old been in hospital for asthma kidneys I have been on kalma but my. Dr retired I'm sweating dry reaching crying feeling hopeless and worried to death
There's help out there, just be strong and find it. Prayer or meditation or both will help ease some of the worry. Everything is under control even if it doesn't seem like it.
I went to mental health. It helped get things off my chest, and they prescribed me xanax and cymbalta for depression. This was a big help for me. Hope it helps you
You really need to set up an appointment with your regular doctor to get regular prescriptions of xanax if that's what you are looking for. The benzos are also on the FDA/DEA hit list right now, & more than likely you will have to sign a contract & do urine tests to continue to get prescriptions for this med. It's unfortunate for those of us that need certain meds to function in our daily lives, but this is what it's come down to, so that is my suggestion for you...

I went to a health clinic cause I don't have insurance and explained my panic attacks to them and social anxiety and how I can't work because it's so crippling and they told me to go therapy with no anxiety meds nothing.
Any doctor can prescribe xanax, but they might refer you to therapy. KCG
This may be a stupid question but really the only drs in this tiny town of mine are more along the lines of urgent cares. Would they be able to help me there or should I go somewhere else? I know this may sound dumb but you can tell I need some help lol.
I have been prescribed both Xanax and Ativan by urgent care doctors, just tell them you do not have a primary care doctor and explain your symptoms. I never recieved any refills though. Good Luck I hate anxiety so I feel for you. -K

How do you know that "any type of doctor is able to prescribe Xanax"? I am asking because I am in the desperate need to resume my prescription of Xanax from the psychiatrist that I used to go to each month from where I used to live. Since I moved away from him, I need to go somewhere else. I have learned that working with psychiatrists have not worked out very well with me personally. I have been taking Xanax (originally 4 tablets per day, 2mg each, now over the past approx. 2 months I have weened down to only 2 tablets at 2mgs each) for the past 6 years approx. I recently had run out and became DEATHLY SICK and had to go to the emergency room. WARNING: PLEASE BE UNDER THE CARE OF A DOCTOR IF YOU PLAN ON STOPPING XANAX AND NEVER, EVER DO IT ON YOUR OWN, IT COULD BE DEADLY!!! I just want to be 100% certain that when I go to my Primary Care Physician, that I will be able to continue my Xanax. So please advise at your earliest convenience. I REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP ANYONE IS ABLE TO OFFER TO ME.
