I have an extreme phobia of anesthesia and I was wondering what it feels like two seconds before you fall asleep and when you wake up.
What does versed/propofol feel like right before you fall asleep?

just had another EGD, I remember making comments to the Anesthesiologist [ he was trying to make me laugh] and then, in an instant, I said "here I go" and the next thing I realized, I was waking up.
The only fear I have is waking up before they are done.
The rest is cake.
I have had several colonoscopy's... I have been given both drugs at different times... Propofol seemed to work faster by a few seconds... Versed seemed to relax me fast and then in both cases, I was OUT! My last colonoscopy was just a few weeks ago and then the nurse said, "well, I think it's time for the Versed" I asked her what I would feel like... she said, Sleepy... and then I was out and very relaxed prior... NICE drugs in my opinion... PLEASE don't sweat these drugs! You don't feel weird at all! They both act VERY fast and you're out without any worry at all! The prep. is the worst part! You won't even know what hit you AND you "won't care"! Cool meds.!
My last couple of anesthetics I was awake, then I wasn't until I was awake again. I'm terrified of them too. It was actually worse preparing for surgery than if I hadn't bothered to think about it.
