Hi, Heatbabe!
Most, if not all, psychotropic medications have the POTENTIAL to cause weight changes. Venlafaxine is considered to be "weight neutral" because IF it causes a weight change it can go either way.
"Metabolic
Very common (10% or more of users): Anorexia (up to 20%)
Common (1% to 10% of users): Decreased appetite, increased appetite, weight gain, weight loss"
If you want you can research drug side effects right here, Just click on the letters at the top of the page and go to Side Effects. You can also read the professional listing of side effects and the percentages of users.
Note that in most cases 10% or less of users might expect any potential change.
So is there any anti depressant that does not cause weight gain and helps with ibs. I am on mirtazapine and have put on 8 k in 9 months
As far as I know... and I would because I've researched every darn medication I've been on... there isn't one with a GUARANTEE of no weight gain. They all have the POTENTIAL for that side effect. That means most people will see no changes.
Personally, I had no weight change at all being on venlafaxine for over seven years. Bupropion has been my drug of choice now for four years for efficacy and lack of side effects. It might be a place for you to start.
Thanks for your help I will ask the coco if I can change from matrizapine
