Hi all, I've done my research around both here and on the web and yet to find much information abotu the drowsiness associated with taking trazodone. I take 100mg trazodone about 9:30pm, go to sleep around 10:30am, wake up at 7:00am (at which point I take 150mg sertraline).
However when I wake up I feel so groggy and drowsy untill at least 10:30/11. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can "wake up quicker"?
I also seem to be suffering quite a bit of brain fog, any suggestions for improving this too would be appreciated.
Should add I'm taking trazone for depression (and partly because I mentioned I'm always tired to my GP) Been on trazodone at this dose for about 4 or 5 months now.
In my personal experience with trazodone, groggy and foggy and oh so sleepy were the major effect. I found I had to wake up an extra half hour early to allow myself time to get going. Without several alarms I could easily sleep the day away. A hot beverage (high caffeine tea in my case) often helped, and I don't drive so that wasn't a concern. I found the grogginess was almost negligible once we got my dose right and I found the right time to take it... earlier than the 30 mins before bed suggested. :)

Hey, your answer was very helpful. May I ask you if this groggy sensation was any day. I feel the same even if it lasts for me the whole day... but it's not the same every day. In some (rare) case I wake up really refreshed and I really don't understand why the hell this happens! Thought it was something I eat but really, there was, no way to get out of this matter!

Great whatever works, But as i was saying it is very common for the fog to lift after a short time so I would guess you would feel like this anyway but it might of helped . Have a good weekend

Well just to add a very interesting twist. I accidently forgot to take a dose on Monday night. Now being friday (and I've been taking my doses as normal) I'm waking up half an hour before my alarm, I feel refreshed, not sluggish or drowsy... Not being a doctor I can't recommend doing it however this worked for me!

sorry Gus; forgot to say that this is also the reason for the brain fog real common with Trazodone but it is still better than not getting sleep which is so Important with depression. Have a good day

Gus; This is very common with Trazodone if it is to much for you in the morning talk with the doctor maybe a dose adjustment is needed But many people at some point these side effects get better. CHUCK1957
