I get a monthly scrip of gabapentin 600mg 4 times a day. Except that I take a lot more of that and I'm usually done with it in 1-2 weeks. I read that it gets metabolized by the kidneys so I wanted to know if I continue to do this, how much damage would I be doing to my kidneys or how taking too much of these would effect
My health.
Taking a lot of gabapentin to get high?

You are abusing gabapentin and you need to stop! Now! There are so many side effects to this medication - you are putting your health and body and mind in danger, that
may not be reverseable. I don't understand how you can
abuse a drug like this. Do you have any short term memory left - because this is a side effect. And are you
dizzy and/or falling a lot - you have put yourself into
jeapordy and I don't feel sorry for you because you are
purposely doing this to yourself. I don't know who you
are or what you are taking gabapentin for - but, I implore
you to stop abusing your body with this drug - the sooner the better. Good luck to you and god bless you for your stupidity. Trish
Nice rant. I don't get any of those side effects. You didnt' even answer my question. I can look up the side effects myself. I was asking about long term use and the effect it has on my kidneys dumb dumb.
This is "dumb dumb. Sorry if you think I was ranting - I am just trying to let
you know that what you are doing to your body is not a good thing - and
to answer your question - yes your kidneys can be affected. Many things,
as you seem to be aware can happen to you that will make your body and
mind sick by abusing yourself with this drug - or most drugs and you need
to stop. If you are afraid about your kidneys I would suggest that you go to
a doctor and have some blood work analysis - then you will know for sure
if any of the organs in your body might be affected by what you are doing.
I am glad to hear that you haven't suffered the two side effects that I
mentioned in my first answer to you, however, I do wish you would allow
your doctor, or a doctor of your choice, examine you and do some tests - it
can only help you, and that is what I wish for you. I have come on too strong
because I have just received news that I have Squamous cell skin cancer -
not a good thing because it is cancer, and because it can spread to other
parts of my body. In June I had my second corneal transplant because the
first one never took in the three years "they" kept trying to make it work. I
also have an autoimmune disease called Prurigo Nodularis which they don't
know how it is caused and there is no cure for it - I am taking a small amount of Gabapentin - 300 mg nightly - I was on 600 mg a day for awhile,
and it stops the maddening itching that goes along with the disease. I also,
have arthritis throughout my body; and I recently was diagnosed with
diabetes. So, you see how much I wish you would see a doctor. Gabapentin
is normally used for seizures - and a myriad of things, but the long term
effects you may get are not worth putting yourself at risk, and that is what
you are doing. I am 75 years old and in the past three years have been
with the diseases I have. I would never think of taking more of a prescription
than is diagnosed for me, and I hope to God you will take my message to
you to heart for I'd hate to know that you have taken too much. Sorry if you
think I was ranting - I just got upset to read your question about your kidneys. And, consider this, if you are taking too much Gabapentin for a high
then you may have short term memory loss and not be aware of it - I hope
this is not the case, for your sake. I do wish you good things in your life, and
hope that you will let me know that you have seen a doctor and told him/her
all about yourself, because, as I now know, you might have something crop
up on you, like I have, and many others on this forum have, now. Be kind
to yourself, for it is up to you as to the caring of yourself. Again, God bless
you and I wish you all the good luck in the world.
Blessings at this time of year,
Your partner in Gabapentin, etc.
Trish
I'm not sure about the amount of damage to your kidneys but I do know that this drug is used for nerve pain & one big side effect is weight gain. I had to take this at the highest dose at one point in my adventure & went from a size 6 to a size 14/16. I felt trapped in someone else's body. I'm going to pray for you to stop talking this or any chemicals to get a "High" & that you have no lasting damages from over use. God bless you!
