I have recently moved to a place where you have to be on a contract to get any controlleds, I have been on KLONOPIN for 3 years. Out of the 5 urine tests they have done it has only showed up twice. My provider things I'm selling it or giving it away. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! I have anxiety and I go thru horrible withdrawels and end up in the hospital without it with panic attacks. I am absolutely taking it and don't want my provider to put that stigma on me. I do have some health issues and am on other meds, any ideas??
I am taking KLONOPIN regularly, it is NOT showing up in my urine tests, why?

Hi outback82, you might want to list your other meds, just an idea, but it may help the wonderful nurses on this site, figure out if it's med related.
Demand a hair follicle test if your doctor doesn't trust you.
I do believe that these urine tests are so very fickle, we get questions all the time about tests being wrong!
There is a member here who may be able to help you, her name is kaismama, and she is a nurse. There are others as well, so hang on for more info!
This nurse has no ideas except maybe the test is lousy. Urine tests are terribly unreliable and I personally don't think they should use them to judge if someone is taking their meds. How much are you taking a day? Mac you may be on the right track, possibly something else is hindering absorption.
Either that or they are an ultra fast metabolizer. Do you take your pill within a few hours of your appt? If you take it more than 8 hours before your appt, you may be burning through it. This would be unusual but possible. I think it is ridiculous to urine test people for a PRN med plus the fact that these test can be unreliable and the DEA making Drs use them knowing they can be unreliable is a crime! It is an unjustified reason to refuse a person their meds. Ask for a GC-MS test. They are very expensive but much more reliable than a dipstick test done in an office. All false results (unexpected results) should be confirmed with GS-MS tests.
That should be GC-MS (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry)
The DEA would love if they could say we are all diverting our meds.
I was taking Ativan and my doctor switched me to Klonopin. The Ativan would show up as a benzo but the Klonopin does not. Makes no sense to me, I do know that Klonopin has a shorter half-life then Ativan but I'm not sure that's the reason it doesn't show up
