I've only been on 150mg for 2.5 weeks and it makes me terribly tired during the day and especially tired in the evening, and having trouble sleeping at night even with AmbienCR. I have not noticed any improvement yet, but it appears that it can take 4-8 weeks to really start working. To switch and take it in the evening, since I've already taken it this morning, should I take another this evening or wait and take tomorrow's dosage tomorrow evening?
How to switch from taking Effexor in the morning to the evening?

For sure wait and take the days dose in the evening. Don't take one in the am and then another in the pm. That's way too much in a day! As Chuck said... just then continue with the same evening time from then on out. You'll be good to go:
Again, thank you to both you and Chuck responding so quickly. So glad that I stumbled into this website for advice on medication and all the helpful advice from all of you that have gone before me. Looking forward to a good night's sleep and being able to stay awake during the day and evening. Thank you again.
Oh gosh, you are certainly welcome. I'm thrilled if my this not so fun journey/experience (20 plus years) can help someone else. I know I like to hear others experiences as well. Sometimes I feel like I come off like I'm trying to be a know it all but, that's not it. I have unfortunately just learned so much having experienced so much and learned the hard way in some situations. The number one thing you always have to know is you are in charge of you. I hear so many people say "my Dr won't take me off this or that", or "my Dr won't let me stop this" etc. they cannot tell you what you are going to take or not. If you don't like how you feel even after one dose, stop taking it and never take it again. If you go home and read all the literature on the medication and don't feel the risks or possible side effects are worth taking the medication the don't even start it.
If you research and see a medication that sounds like something you would like to try, suggest it. That's what my last antidepressant was. my last change with antidepressant medication was with Cymbalta and I told him I didn't see where it was helping me in any way and I didn't want to take it any longer. (Little did I know, after 5 years it was what was causing a multitude of health issues as well as my depression). He wanted to INCREASE my cymbalta, my best judgment said NO and I refused. It was the best decision I ever made. I went briefly to trintelex bc I was scared to take nothing after 20 years of antidepressants but, it made me sick so I stopped completely and I am off all antidepressant medication for the 1st time in over 20 years and I am happier than I have been in years. I can think clearly, I have interest in life, I have energy, I have memory... I have emotions. Anyway... I'm happy to help just always be your own voice! Research everything yourself! DRS are there to help you make healthcare decisions, they are not all knowing, perfect people. I KNOW this for a fact. They don't always know these meds they are handing out all day long.
Best of luck.
My husband takes 25mg Seroquel at bedtime.
Last night I gave him his Effexor 75XR as he missed it in the morning and the Seroquel an hour later.
He had a very good night's sleep.
If we switch to taking the Effexor at night can he take the Seroquel as well??
Thanks.
Kat; wait and take it in the evening don't take it both morning and evening or you well be doing double then once you have changed it make sure you continue to take it about the same time each day. hope you are doing better soon. and yes you are right you may start to notice some benefits prior to 6 to 8 weeks but it does take that long to reach the full blood level
Thank you so much for your quick advice. I didn't take it this morning, and was glad to see your response. So will be trying it this evening and hopefully I won't be half asleep in the afternoon and evening with the switch. So looking forward to it helping. Thanks again.
