I have had mutiple surgeries and experience pain on a daily basis. Gabapentin - can I take aspirin and gabapentin together for shingles pain?

I am 80 year old male. For shingles pain I am taking 300mg twice a day. No effect but with 50mg aspirin taken at 3hrs interval three times a day I have a very good effect. Why? Should I continue? Is such a small dose aspirin along with gabapentin dangerous?
