Hi Everyone, I've just begun taking Savella for my Fibro. I'm on my 14th day of the triaition pack (50 mg/2 a day). I really don't feel like I'm getting any relief. I have so much pain in my lower back, buttocks and legs, especially when I sit. In addition, to not feeling any pain relief, I'm super moody. One minute I don't think I can take it anymore and the next I'm ready to take on the world. If you're on Savella, how long did it take you to feel any change? Also, did you get super moody and how long did it last? Thanks!

HI, I was on Savella for 3 weeks, it put me in a depression that I had never had before. I cried about the little things that should not make someone upset. As far a pain, didn't notice any relief at all, after 3 weeks my Dr changed me to Cymbalta. It was like the sun came out! What a difference in mood and pain and flu like symptoms gone. I still get mild pain by the end of the day and take extra strength Tylenol. Would love to be "normal" and pain free like I use to be, but for some reason God has given me this disease and Im trying to make the best of it.

Hi Kris. I had a very similar experience as MsSophia. I was amazed that after only 2days I was practically pain free. Any small breakthrough pain that I sometimes had in my neck, low back, or just headaches could be controlled with Aleve. That part was like a miracle! However, the side effects became too unbearable for me to continue the med. I started early on having terrible hot flashes, so bad that my hair would be soaked! My nurse manager came by one day when I was at a patient's bedside and asked if I was crying. It was so embarrassing because what she had thought were tears was actually sweat pouring off my face! I started my period about once a week and it would be full blown, but be completely gone within a couple of day. And the munches! I was constantly hungry and craving food! I gained around 30 lbs in just 2-3 months, which I am still trying to get off. My personality also changed. At first I liked the "new me".
I was more confident, less shy, more assertive. Before long, though, I became like the you-know-what from you-know-where! And I was a newlywed with a teenage son! My poor family was whipped into shape, but I could see what I was doing to them. Poor guys! Lol! Anyway, I did finally realize that the bad was out weighing the good, so I sadly weaned myself off.
I would recommend giving it more time if the side effects aren't bad. Everyone reacts to meds differently, and it may take to the end of you titration pack or longer to give relief. However, I would keep in touch with my doc and discuss other options if you are still not getting any relief. Hope this helps and I do really hope you get your pain under control!

Hi Kris, I felt the pain relief in a couple of days, it was great and kept working for pain. But then my eyes started getting very very blurry, headaches, and over a couple of months I felt like I was a time bomb waiting to go off. Very aggressive, nervous, irritable etc. I finally tapered off reluctantly because it worked for the pain but I was not me anymore. I am sorry I don't have better report for you, but we are all different. I tried half the dose but still the same side effects. I hope you have better luck with it. mindy
