Low citalopram (Celexa) dose for seniors?

After doing very well on citalopram 40 mg for years, my doctor has suddenly suggested that my dose should be reduced to half of that based on the pharmaceutical recommendation for my age. I cannot find any rationalization for that recommendation anywhere, nor did my doctor know. Anyone? Thank you!

... hydrochlorot 25mg around 55 to 50... I do not get dizzy and feel fine... Doctor isn't worried about it... just wondering if anyone else does this too?
