That is exactly what it did to me. My heart rate was past 100 every time I took my reading. Its horrible for asthma and causes poor breathing. My blood pressure stayed high. 140/98 was the lowest it woud go and that is not healthy even with the new blood pressure rating chart. I was taken off of it.
What Med?
I'm on effexor xr and have heart palpitations for about 3 weeks now.
I've also been having hard time sleeping and sweats at night.
I know the are side effects to meds and I've been feeling so much better with the depression and anxiety.
How long did it take before u started feeling effects from the Effexor? I'm on my 5th day.
I started in Sept at 37.5 and gradually went up to 150mg about 2 weeks ago, so it took that long before I recognized I was feeling allot better.
The problem is that one I hit 150mg I started having the negative effects of heart palpitations, night sweats and not sleeping well so I need to talk to my doctor about this.
Since Lisinopril is meant to lower your BP, these are not good side effects for you. The instructions on both drugs say your BP must be taken often. Look below your question to see the links to information about both drugs. If you don't find the links, simply look up each drug on Drugs.com. By looking at contraindications with each drug you may spot a conflict between ANY of your meds and medical problems. Don't just look at the Effexor, but keep in mind all meds that you are taking and possible contraindications.
What you're describing is probably an increase in BP and that's exactly what you don't want. Please call your Dr. ASAP and ask your question about this. Do not fool around or simply worry, because a high BP is dangerous. Please ACT now or asap by contacting your Dr. If you know someone or somewhere with a quality BP machine, get your BP 1st and then contact your Dr.
If this was me, and the symptoms don't go away, I'd not take any Lisinopril until I contacted my Dr. and got his/her instructions. I am not a Dr., just a medical professional with experience, so this is only my opinion and the decision rests with you. Best wishes and be safe.
My Dr said it's my body getting used to my new meds. But to keep a close eye on my pressure. It was 160/106 now it's 140/98
Glad you talked to your Dr.! :o) The 2nd BP is okay, but a little lower is usually desired. I had guessed the Dr's. answer, but I don't like it myself. I certainly hope s/he is right. If you're anxiety doesn't greatly improve over the next few days, you'll know it's not just getting used to the medicine. Best wishes!
Thank u so much. He told me if I lost weight and quit smoking that would Also help lower my blood pressure. I am going to buy a home BP cuff so I can keep up on it.. Again Thank u for taking the time to help me..
You're welcome. Since you liked my help, could you click on the "vote up" spot? I want to see what happens. Thanks, glad you're better!
Hey Carmen!! I'm curious to know how your symptoms are now. I just started on Lisinopril today and have the red face, BP 145/88, and experiencing discomfort.
