My doctor upped my dose of sertraline from 100 mg to 150 mg and put me on buspirone 7.5 mg. That was a week ago and I have loss of appeitite and alittle nausea. Is this normal? I'm also taking alprazolam for anxiety when needed. Please advise if anyone has had this after getting dosage upped?

Hi, shelton!
Sertraline: "Common (1% to 10%): Anorexia, decreased appetite."
"Very common (10% or more): Nausea (up to 26%)."
Buspirone: "Common (1% to 10%): Nausea."
"Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Decreased appetite."
These are "normal" side effects of increases of dosage and of adding the buspirone. They rarely last more than a week or two and should be getting better every day now.
I seem to only feel really nauseous after the first dose in the morning, even after taking it with a glass of milk. No appetite until later in the day. I'm hoping it doesn't last too much longer because it makes me anxious!
shel, yes, that's the Catch 22! The medications themselves can temporarily increase anxiety which in turn makes you more anxious.
As far as the nausea, do you think you could manage some soda crackers, a slice of dry toast, maybe some ginger ale?
Try not to let anxiety get the better of you... this won't last much longer!
I make myself eat something even though I don't feel like it. I drink protein shakes for breakfast so that helps. I just have to hang in there and hopefully feel normal again soon.
Well, you're doing all the right things. Hang in there and look forward to the good days that are coming.
Tomorrow will be 2 weeks of the change and I'm feeling doubtful. Should I keep trying and hope for the best? I would think that since I've been on Sertraline for years that I would feel better sooner. Help!!
Hey just wondering how your doing with the Buspirone and Sertraline. I was just prescribed this today and have been on Zoloft about a year now. This is my second time on Zoloft.
