I have GERD, bile reflux and esophagus ucler. My doctor gave me Sucraflate tablet 1 g. He told me to take 1 g 2 times after meals with water. Is this a correct way to take Sucralfate because I read that I should take it before meals and not after meals.
What is the efficient way for taking Sucralfate ? should I take with a plenty of water or should I dissolved it in water and drink it ?

Hello, I have been on sucralfate for several years and take it morning and night- you have to have an empty stomach for it to be affective so take it at least 2 hours after eating with at least 1 glass of water if not a pint glass of water - hope this helps

In this case it makes sense to hope taking it after meals will help. If you took it before every swallow you take would move it down to your stomach. Not that much is going to stay in your esophagus anyway.

Take it before so it coats the lining of your stomach, how is it supposed to protected your stomach from acid

Thank you for replying. The problem is not in my stomach it is in my esophagus. When the doctor told me to take it after meals I thought that was because the ulcer is in my esophagus not in my stomach. am i right ?
