... I was extremely healthy before and during my pregnancy and had one shot of RhoGAM during pregnancy and one shot of RhoGAM after delivery. My child is now 8.5 months and it seems as though my immune system is completely shot. I seem to catch everything and anything I'm close to despite all the hand washing and vitamin taking and it seems to take a whole lot longer for me to get over an illness than before I was pregnant. I was 31 when I had my baby, should my immune system be this bad eight months after labor? Is RhoGAM the cause?
Does RhoGAM have long term effects on your immune system?

Hello, I read your post and was wondering if you are still having issue with your immune system. I have just started my quest for answers. Have you found any information on RhoGAM side effects it may cause.
No, Rho Gam shouldnt weaken your immune system but the stress of caring for a baby can. When you have a child under a year old, you dont get enough sleep, any sleep you do get is often interrupted. Many women with small babies and children dont eat properly because they are too busy trying to keep up with their children. It is just plain stressful to have a little one. Stress will affect your immune system quicker than anything. Taking vitamins can help but vitamins are no match for a good healthy diet. Rest when you need to. Instead of doing massive house cleaning when the baby is down, take a small nap yourself. Your body is just telling you that you are doing too much. See your Dr just to be sure there is no underlying illness like anemia or hypothyroid etc.
Thank you for your response. I guess I'm just in denial. I work full time plus try to keep a house, husband, and care for our little one. I lost my pregnancy weight very quickly and what seemed like a lot of my hair so, I was afraid I had hyperthyroidism then I had some blood work done and everything checked out fine. I guess it is just stress. We typically eat organic and NonGMO when we can find it but clearly that isn't enough. Thanks again.
I have wondered this myself. I had this injection many many years ago and I have had autoimmune type problems since that time . I received the injection following the birth of my daughter ( who was RH+). I have had many illnesses such as thyroid problems(which was partially removed), low white blood cells, low platelets, positive ANA, GI problems, etc etc!! I have been diagnosed with everything from IBS to lupus. I came to terms that drs dont know everything and I have to accept that I have to handle symptoms as they arise and enjoy life in the process. With that said- my second daughter ( who is RH-) also had the Rhogam injection - gave birth to a RH+ baby - and she is having all the same issues. She had the injection over four years ago. Still having autoimmune type symptoms. I don't think that this issue is well investigated and I also know other women outside my family with same issues. Hope you find a peaceful place to walk with this- in case your journey is long.
I had 5 kids and had rhogam at 18 weeks and after delivery. I have wondered this same thing. My youngest is now 8 and I have Hashimoto's hypothyroiditis. I got really sick after I lost about 100 lbs (on purpose in 12 months) and I am not getting any better. Is there a way to verify this is not still in my system or causing issues?
I am wondering this too! I have had 2 pregnancies and 4 shots. My youngest are 3 and I am now allergic to almost everything under the sun! I have thyroid issues, autoimmune issues, allergies, etc. Since the birth of my youngest, I have not been the same. When I had postpartum hair fall out, I had dark brown hair.. my new hair grew in white! I'm 32 and am sporting grey/white hair! Each time I had the rhogam shot, I would swell and have edema like symptoms. I would get stroke like migraines that put me in the ER. After the birth of my youngest, my allergies became worse than ever. I'm now on a low histamine diet, have intolerance to sulfites AND sulfates AND Sulfa drugs, intolerance to Salicylates, gluten, dairy, corn, soy. I had some of these allergies since I was a kid. I had adverse reactions to vaccines as a child and my Pediatrician advised my parents to not vaccinate again. Years later I had some at the advice of another Dr and again had adverse reactions.
Then I was threatened by my OB/GYN regarding Rhogam.. and ever since things have gone south. I'm at a loss. And am frustrated. I was a healthy, tone, athletic and vibrant young woman. Now I feel old, at 32!
Directed at Ljtb (previous comment) I don't know why I never thought of this beforehand. I was reading a post about vaccines today and a girls adverse reaction. I've been sick for almost 6 years now. I got sick right after having my daughter. They couldn't figure it out for months. I ended up with giardia (parasite) h. Pylori infection, ulcer and internal bleeding by the time they found out. There was a lot of damage to my insides by that time. They said I'd be healed within a year though. 6 years later almost I'm still sick they're lost. I've been to neurologist for issues there, gi for issues there. They had sent me cardio etc. I've been diagnosed with autoimmune issues as well and am needing to go back to neurologist again for further issues. I had my rhogam after having my daughter. I was fine before, fine during but after... it's been a nightmare. I'm wondering now if it's possible to have a relation to this shot!
It’s been over twenty years since my first Rhogam shot. A random Facebook post made question long term Rhogam side effects. Googling it lead me here. How many Rh negative women who had the Rhogam shot have developed Autoimmune/GI/neurological problems after its administration? It could be a total coincidence, but I’m so curious. The same Facebook article also stated Rh negative people are probably descendants of aliens, and I might agree with that too. I’m clicking the box to be emailed when someone replies. I’ve always thought there was something I was exposed to that caused my sudden GI problems. I would love to be able to finally figure it out. ✌
I have had 4 children all TH positive. My 2 children were back to back. I had received this shot over 8 times and after became very ill with auto immune issues. Hyperthyroidism being the major problem for me. I have been researching this for over 10 years and have found many woman who have received the shot having auto immune issues after. I have been trying to reverse the process. I have found diet to play a key role in doing so. It seems as if I have developed wheat problems. I have also found that taking a copper and gold liquid supplement, drinking P H balanced water & adding hydrogen peroxide food grade drops to water all helps me feel better. You can find lots of information online. I believe that we should be living much different lifestyle than most of us do.
