Does Ozempic cause decreased libido?
I have been on Ozempic 1 mg for over a year so it is well established in my system now … I have noticed a general feeling of low energy and decreased sensitivity and decreased ability to achieve orgasm. It could also be due to perimenopause but I am still more interested in the effects of this drug on sex drive?
Dreading bringing this up with my endocrinologist on but I am not sure if I am willing to continue if this is a lasting side effect who knows what else will be lost with taking this drug? Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks in advance
Does Ozempic cause anorgasmia?

I am 40 years old, female, and I suffering with my sexual desire, my libido decreased a lot, I dont feel any interest in having sex.
I used ozempic for 4 months, and have been 2 months without it and no signs of getting my sex drive back.
I'm 55 female and have been on ozempic for about a year. 50lbs gone and counting. I am sorry but also relieved reading these answers and know that I am not alone. I noticed a significant decrease in intensity of orgasm about 6 to 8 months ago which are almost non existent now. I looked into every possibility before considering ozempic as probable cause. I hope this is the cause and I hope this side-effect ends when use of the drug ends. As for me I'm willing to live with for another 30 lbs.
I had a similar issue loss of feeling. It returned when I went off the medication after about a month. Was on it for two months, low dose.
Probably more so reducing the craving for sex and the urge to use sex as a coping mechanism. I’ve been on it for 6 months, 30lbs down, 20lbs to go before my goal weight. I’ve noticed so many changes including my desire for sex but I invite the changes b/c it is for the better. I am not a Dr but I would put money on this symptom being more of a change mentally than physically and wouldn’t overly worry about it being damaging to your sex drive. Definitely a conversation to have with your Dr. My Dr. has prescribed medications to help me with symptoms that I have complained about, mostly GI stuff and she talks to me about the changes it has on me psychologically so I understand what I am dealing with.
I have been on ozempic for weight loss for 6 weeks and have observed a direct loss of sexual interest. I'm surprised that endocrinologist would find this surprising, if you're driving down your desire to eat, it is closely related to sex drive, and overall "lust for life". This should be an expected outcome. I'm just a nurse, so... but I am surprised that this isn't seen as an expected outcome.
Wow. I am the opposite. I started at .25 and now I am at 2.0. I am male. Since 2MG I am feeling more sexually aroused. I also notice a stronger smell from my body. Similar smell that is in the medicine. Anyone else feeling the same way? I am considering lowering my dosage back to 1MG
Wouldn't you know it. Increase for male. Decrease for female.
I have been on this medication only 2 weeks and I already notice inability to reach orgasm! UGH
I am completely desperate. Ozempic caused me major difficulties in my sexuality. It took me a month to find out it was a side effect of Ozempic. Can anyone here share their experience of how long it takes to get back sexual sensitivity as before Ozempic? Will feelings return to normal after stopping Ozempic? Super sad. Afraid of long-term damage. Could anyone share their experience after stopping?
I'm 57 and have not had any desire for sex since starting on Ozempic a year ago. I don't think about sex at all, and what's worse is, I'm completely exhausted after work every night and spend the weekends just trying to recoup. Naturally my wife thinks she's the reason, but no reassurance I give her really matters since we continue not to be intimate. I began taking Ozempic as a last ditch effort to maintain a low A1A, because none of the other meds or combinations were working for me, and we were trying to avoid insulin at all costs, no pun intended. My endo is very good but he didn't seem to even suggest that it could be the Ozempic causing the fatigue or loss of libido and referred me back to my G.I. to see if I have something else going on that may be causing it. I honestly don't think so, because I have great BMI and have no issues other than the ones I've stated.
Reading the other comments here has me even more concerned because I've no idea if the loss of penile sensation others are experiencing is affecting me as well. Hopefully I can switch meds to something like Ozempic but without these side effects.
55 fem. I haven't lost desire but not having orgasm almost seems like why bother.
I recently quit Semutaglide after just 2 weeks because it destroyed my Libido. I was prescribed it for weight loss - and during those two weeks I lost 5 pounds effortlessly, and felt really good doing so. I was impressed at how much energy I had, and that I never felt hungry even when I missed a meal. I even felt more mentally sharp, and grounded, etc. But, by the middle of week 2 ( on the lowest start dose) I had an awkward experience in bed, and had difficulty with performance and climax. There was also a mental component - of not being as interested in physical intimacy too. I'll spare the details, LOL. I finally got business handled - but I knew that it was the Semutaglide because there's never been any issue before whatsoever. I was really disappointed because I thought I'd finally found a solution to the weight loss yo-yo.
I’ll be curious if your libido returns ….even 4 months later I would say I’m only 50% back to where I was prior to ozempic. A little concern it’s permanent however on the bright side I’m not against using the medication again since it was so effective losing 20 pounds in four weeks but dammit what a side effect. Good time to be single
I've been off it for about 5 months now. I'd say my libido is only back to 70% of what it was. And, unfortunately the sensitivity in my tip and shaft is also only like 70% what it was prior to Semuglutide. I'm so glad I figured this out when I did - after only 2 small doses. Another thing I've observed in myself after quitting it is that I'm more easily tired after less physical work or activities. Nothing else has changed in my life, and I really started noticing it after I stopped.
My thought is that it's done something with my testosterone balance, and I'm going to work on ways to naturally increase it.
I think we all dread quitting but look forward to seeing if we get back our mojo.
I have had the exact same problem. Very frustrating as my Endo doc is very bright and has no idea how this could happen. It is a lack of sensation (male penis tip) that no longer can build to release. Truly enjoyed the weight loss, but feel like permanent damage has been done. I've been off Ozempic for 3 months with no natural improvement.
I am 37. I have been on Ozempic for only 6 weeks and I noticed my sex drive is none existing. I am up to the .50mg dose.
Actually my husband was the one that mentioned it. And mentioned it started the same time I started my new medicine.
I will be switching back to Trulicity for sure.
I’m a 56 year old male and since I’ve moved to the 1mg dose I’ve experienced decreased ability to get and keep an erection. I didn’t put two and two together until I recognized when I began the increased dosage the ability worsened. I started out on a .25 then, .5 and using the blue chew began was a hit and mis. Since going to the 1mg it doesn’t work at all. I’m done using it. I’ve learned it take 5 weeks to get out of your system. I’m good I’ve gotten serious about my diet and exercise. So I’m out.
If your doctor identifies what’s causing it please keep me posted
Yes. Please let us know if everything returns to normal or if your issues are resolved and how long after quitting.
Hi Bella, I am 58, have been on Ozempic .25 for 5 weeks. I am well past menopause and in a long term relationship. I have experienced exactly the symptoms that you list including decreased libido and anorgasmia for the last couple of weeks. They do say that side effects wear off, so I am hoping this particular side effect resolves quickly. Thanks for sharing. At least we know now that it is likely to be the medication rather than hormonal. I am considering asking for some estrogen cream to see if that helps. It’s hard to have to choose between weight loss and enjoying sex.
