I went to that doc Nov 12 (this past Monday) because my vagina was really itchy. The Doctor said I have bacteria (not an std) they checked my pee & everything. It was prescribed 1 full tube every night for 5 days & to apply on vulva twice a day.Today will be the 5th night. But Ive noticed that I have this cottage cheese looking discharge.Is That normal? is the gel getting rid of the beacteria?

For the last person who posted. Bacteria can and does ride on on the backs of sperm. If you don't believe it you can Google a picture of it. Some health care providers will treat your partners with Flagyl if you have reoccurring infections. I have reoccurring infections of bv since i went thru chemo. I am prescribed the gel 2x a week for a year after doing a 5 day treatment. Research says that it's the the recommended treatment course for chronic bv. I am experiencing the white clumps like the OP. My symptoms usually appear right around my menses so it could be a ph imbalance being caused my hormonal changes.

One person brought this up, but I was hoping to get more feedback. I’m 29, I keep getting symptoms of BV the week before my period EVERY MONTH. Is this normal? Does it go away on its own? Has anyone tried the peroxide and water douche remedy? I took some tea tree oil and rubbed it around the outside of my vagina and it REALLY HELPED. But I didn’t want to mask the symptoms and get worse so I inserted some metrogel last night, AFTER LESS THAN 24 hours I am getting the cottage cheese discharge. Most of you keep saying a minimum of 2-3 days before you see it but I saw it immediately. I don’t have burning if I don’t wear underwear. There is a mild odor when I pee but not in the discharge.
I have had the same boyfriend for 4 years. Last doctor I saw about this says his sperm could mess with my ph but MEN DONT GIVE BV TO WOMEN. I don’t have insurance so I keep using the metro gel I was given when this started. I could really use all the help I could get.
A couple of you spoke about taking the medication in one dose twice a month. Could you elaborate on that? Why that decision was made, what you are being dosed with, how long you take it in one month time and if it helped you long term?

I went to the doctor and she prescribed me MetroGel because she noticed my cervix was inflamed and I was having abnormal discharge. She assumed this was due to BV. However, 3 days later my results came back negative. I’ve been getting the thick, toilet paper like discharge (just finished day 5) though and my cervix is no longer inflamed. I’ve seen some people say that the discharge is a sign of the gel “eating” the bacteria. Could it be possible then that I still had some sort of bacterial infection that the gel worked against even though my results were negative?

This is completely normal. It is the medicine working. My question is after 5 days how do I get the remaining meds out of my vagina. I hate having sex with my bf and this white thick stuff comes out. So embarrassing

I was told to keep it in because it’s going to naturally clean out itself and that it’s still working while it’s in there but we are also suppose to wait a few days after the last dose to continue sex

Old post but I’m experiencing the samething,I have white discharge after a couple days of use every time I use it so it’s not always yeast build up it’s the build up from the gel after a couple used and every dose you use don’t wkways come right back out but don’t think it can’t be a yeast infection and have any of you tried probiotics or rephresh? I’m currently trying probiotics for about a month now and I have not noticed any difference I tried it after a previous treatment thinking that it would prevent B.V. from coming back but it returned..but the rephresh on the other hand it gave me temporary relief no Odor or discharge although it came back like for me that it’s just a cover up or something just really temporary is there anything that took anyone’s B.V. away for good that I can try ?

Drink PLENTY OF WATER, don’t use ANY SOAP DOWN THERE WHEN WASHING NOT EVEN DOVE, take more showers than baths( think about it your just sitting in dirt and soap), don’t wear panties to bed, air dry your vagina after you wash but be sure to pat dry as well, drinking a lot of sugary drinks can throw your ph off as well. Pay and not wipe when you pee. 100% cotton panties go up a size just give your girl some room to breathe. Try to keep cool down there as possible sweat is full of dirt as well. Hot water will throw ph off as well lukewarm temp is fine

I just finished my last dose yesterday and I noticed on the 4th treatment I have white thick discharge. No itching or burning. This is my first night off the meds 6/21. I noticed some brown color to it, I’m on bc pills and haven’t had a period since Feb 2018. I’m due for my period now so wonder if this is it. Only just spotting. I like all of you tried to take it out, which it seems I shouldn’t. I’ll see how long it takes to stop. And I’ll post that. A friend told me about VH Essentials which a PH balancing suppository. Gonna try it!

I Too Was Diagnosed With A Bacterial Infection. Dr Asked Me If I Had Changed Partners or Had Sex With Someone Else? I Just Looked Puzzled!! Anyway, I Have Just Finished The Metro Gel And Have Had This Cottage Cheese Looking Stuff Coming Out Of My Vagina, Glad I Read These Q and As.. No Burning Or Itching After Taking This Metro Gel, If Anything Else Happens I'll Make Sure Too Let Y'all Know!!

I did the 3 days out of the 5 day vaginal gel because that's what my Dr's suggested but my question is when can I shower? My last dose was Sunday night and it's now Tuesday night... I really want to take A FREAKING SHOWER I FEEL GROSS N HAVE OCD!
