Dr.'s are not sure if I have Lupus, or fibromyalgia. Going to a rheumatologist mid Dec. The marijuana takes the edge off. I heard & read about the side effects of Lyrica & I really cannot stand taking prescriptions; because of them. Dr. said if I don't test clean next appt. that I am no longer his patient because they will take away his federal license to practice. This really does suck. Any suggestions or advice to save me some research time?
Lyrica or medical marijuana?

I had to quit taking Lyrica after 3 months because for the first and only time in my life I was suicidal. I didn't even realize it was the lyrica until I reread the side effects and I quit taking it right away and within two weeks I felt happy and back to normal. Marijuana does help with my fibromyalgia pain but I don't use it but maybe a hit once or twice a month. I am on other pain medications but without them I would for sure be an all day everyday smoker. I hope you the best luck. I have been to several doctors and they all think because I'm in my early 20's and have tons of piercings that I couldn't possible be in pain even though tests and MRI's have proven all my conditions. They just don't want to get in trouble and they don't really care if you suffer. It's just a job to them and we're expendable, we're not viewed as people and they don't see that the fuctioning in our lives is literally up to them.
Was reading your post and just wanted to say,I feel very blessed because my dr is cool as a fan. I use to smoke my and I take opiofs for chronic pain, and he said he don't care if I smoke my along with my meds. I guess I just have one of those doctors that is very compassionate. He will talk to me for 2 mins or 30 mins, what ever I need. He is a great doctor. I have thought about starting smoking my again because they legalized it for medicanal use in my state. Just not sure what the rules are on that. I don't want to get my dr in any trouble. Not do I want to do it if it isn't legal to do both meds and mj.
You start by saying legal marijuana. Did he write you a prescription for it or even another doctor? If so, & it's legal I don't see the problem. I understand your plight, but I am now on a weaning plan of taking Lyrica. I have taken it in the past & I have fibro & Lupus. It helped the pain so much we had quite a relationship, but alas, it decided to turn it' ugly side to me & gave me swelling all over my body water retention, very blurry vision, angry feeling, very talkative (attested by my husband). The only thing I didn't get, was the depression, but haven't been on it long either. I am down from 3 to 1 pill & the pain is horrible again, but I will never take it again once I get off of it. Everyone reacts differently to different drugs, but I don't reccomend Lyrica, but have heard a few say it's ok. Not many, mind you, but a few. I would stay away from the MJ if this doctor says he will drop you until you can figure out something better. It will be in your system by mid Dec. if you are doing it now. Best of luck to you. Oh, I have heard Savella is a good choice for fibro pain also, & may ask my doc in Jan. when I go back...
Mary, Don't you just miss that lyrica--- I do,c.
