Does anyone use lamictal for anxiety and or ocd. What dose works for either and how long to work? I’ve been taking 100 mgs for four nights so far but never feel anything since I started back on 25 mgs. I’m not really bipolar but I do have a mood disorder supposedly but more so a problem with anxiety and OCD, my doctor thought this would be an all around good answer. Any thoughts please!

Hi, Jack.
Anxiety disorders are very often connected with mood disorders and Lamictal is often prescribed off-label to treat generalized anxiety and OCD in particular . It doesn't matter if you're Bipolar or not.
Because you generally titrate up from a low dose to the therapeutic dose for you as an individual it can take weeks before you feel the full benefit of the medication.
"For some other patients effects are seen after about a month of being on lamotrigine treatment. But there will always be others that take a bit longer to experience the positive effects.”
I now take 200mg/day (100mg am/pm) and it's working very well for me.

Are you receiving CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)? It's especially helpful for treating OCD.

"Prospective randomized trials in patients such as those presented in this paper with OCD who do not respond to combinations of SSRIs with clomipramine and/or antipsychotics are needed. Lamotrigine may be an ideal candidate for these trials.
