Been prescribed Lamictal 25mg. Supposed to start with 1/2.
When I was in the doctor"s office, I trusted him and thought it might work. Then when I researched it some more, saw the possible bad side effects.
I usually just take natural supplements.
I don't know if it's worth the risk of even trying it. I took Neurontin just a few separate times and did not like it. It looks like this drug is stronger than Neurontin so it may not be tolerable.
I'm looking for something to help OCD, depression, and anxiety. Also for very difficult hormonal mood swings.
I know the normal drug would be SSRI"s, but can't tolerate them.
Thanks for any thoughts.

I never did get on Lamictal. One time I took a tiny dose but did not like the way I felt.
I'm still dealing with ocd and pms.
Took two drops of Celexa for two days.
Can't really tolerate any antidepressant.
I have bipolar disorder and OCD. I have been taking Depakene for more than 10 years. It has been quite efficient on my mood disorder…But, since my OCD problems persisted, I looked for new drugs to treat it. I read here and there that Lamictal was not only efficient on mood disorder but also on OCD. So I asked my doctor to prescribe it to me. In fact, it has had the opposite effect on me : my OCD got about 3 or 4 times more intense with Lamictal than with Depakene. So I got back to Depakene. Now my OCD are still present but they are much more acceptable than with Lamictal.
I hope this helps.
Hi. My experience trying to treat Bipoloar, OCD and anxiety with SSRI's has been untorlable. I was put in Lamictal a year ago after 20 years of off and on SSRI's and I am happy to report that it has been the best medication I have ever been one. My understanding is that if you don't get the skin rash from Lamictal the side effects are little to none. In my case I have not experienced any side effects. I hope this helps.
Thank you for your comment.
That is encouraging that you did so well with Lamictal.
I had loss of appetite and extreme moodiness. I was already moody so I'm not sure if the medication made it worse.
Did you have any side effects when you first started the drug?
Thanks.
I'm interested to know if you still on lamictal and if so, how is it?
Could you please tell us more about the benefits you had from lamictal.
I never did take it consistently.
Hi. I would like to help you choose the right meds. you said you have depression, do you know what kind of depression?
Well, I think one time someone diagnosed it as major depression. I already know what drugs are used for depression. But the ocd is the biggest issue.
The doctor is using a Genesight assessment as a guideline.
Thanks.
Hi. Here are some anti-depressants that work well for OCD. Luvox, Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil, and Effexor. hope this helps you.
Thank you, but I already stated that I can't tolerate the ssri's.
Effexor is a SNRI and would help with your OCD. It would be a good medication to try.
Yes, I know.
But seronin is still involved. It is in the red column on my Genesight results.
you could also try a Tricyclic anti-depressant called Vivactil.
sorry about that, i am trying to do three things at once.
