Is there such a thing as 1000 mg hydrocodone?
The answers so far are correct but the yellow pill you are getting is a narco... the one he is taking is a vicodin. Not much difference only the narco is better for your liver..by the way their are even pills with 650 Mg of acetaminophen and 10 hydrocodone but they are trying to switch to all narcos due to high abuse to improve liver damage. Hope this is helpful.
Actually the name is Norco; not narco. And yes... by now, the name Norco has "replaced" the word Vicodin (although they are not identical drugs). Because acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be harmful to the liver when taken in excess of the daily limit of 4,000 mg (or 4 grams), and considering the increased usage of this painkiller (legal or illegal)... the change was made. Norco is still hydrocodone/acetaminophen, but with only 325 mg of acetaminophen. **keep in mind that OTC bottles of Tylenol/acetaminophen ES (extra strength) is still 500mg and therefore, your daily limit would be eight (8)
the white is the same as any color just diff makers and some people are alergic to the dye in pills but they are the same, maybe you just need a stronger pain med but plz becarful or you will start taking more like i did.. Mick.
Hey Sherry,
Yes, I agree with Jilly, but let me go a little further. Acetaminophen is Tylenol as she said, and APAP is also Tylenol or Acetaminophen. I don't know how they get that abbreviation APAP out of acetaminophen, but they do. You can also always know the strengths from the label. Hydro is Hydrocodone, which is the opiate in the pill, and APAP is the Tylenol. Now the numbers are 10/325. That means 10 mg of Hydro, and 325 mg of acetaminophen. You might also see 5/500. That would be 5 mg of the Hydro and 500 mg of Tylenol. There used to be a 10/1000. Do you know what that means now? It's 10 mg of Hydro and 1000 mg of Tylenol. Notice that they always list the opiate first and the Tylenol second. So ...
If it was a Percocet the label might say Oxy/APAP 7.5 - 750. Can you guess what that is? It's Oxycodone 7.5 mg (the opiate) and Tylenol 750 mg. Understand?
So now when you or your husband gets a new med you can look at the label and read the drugs in it and the amounts, and amaze him. Cool huh?
One last thing, Watson is the name of the generic company who made the pill, and 853 is their code for the pill. I don't know what the (99) is. Since they aren't helping you call your doc and tell him. That's the most Hydro they put in those pills. You can also try taking an extra Tylenol with the pill, but only if Tylenol is OK for you. Usually a person can take up to 1000 mg of Tylenol at 1 time. And since that pill only has 325 mg of Tylenol, you can take 1 more with it. But only if you can have Tylenol in large amounts. If you have Liver problems then you can't. But by adding 1 more Tylenol, maybe it will kill your pain. Otherwise, maybe next the doc might give you Percocet. Sometimes Oxy works when Hydro fails. But call your doc and tell him. I hope you feel better.
Sherry,
Acetaminophen is Tylenol. Hydrocodone is generic for Vicodin. The colors are different due to different manufacturers. It sounds as if the strengths are the same, just different colors due to different makers.
I hope this helps,
~Jillynnie
