This is a rather confusing answer as most packaging states that it's only good for two weeks after opening and in the foil, one week without the foil. My doctor told me it's the expiration date if it's clear and in the foil. Best yet is to ask a pharmacist as they know medications better than anyone.
yes you can still use it up to 6mos past it expired date.
Von-1, it is generally not recommended to use expired medication. Please double check it with a pharmacist.
Sorry, do not mean to be offensive at all or funny!!!
your right its not, but all the docs I worked for said it was ok as long as it wasn't an antib. I wouldn't want to give someone the wrong answer or hurt anyone, and maybe I should not have repeated that. Von
juchelsie, I'm sorry I told you that you could use it. I was just going by what I had been told by my doc. Please don't take my advice, call your pharmacy or doc. Von
But by the way I did work for a Resp Pharmacy for 5yrs, I was the Field Support Specialist, as well as a nurse. Von
I am working with a pharmaceutical manufacturing company, & have 22 years of experience...
well I'm proud for you! But why is it you refer all questions to the doc, and thats your answer to everything. If this is so then you know these meds have a longer shelf life than the exp date.
Von-1,
Coz I am not a doc, I just 'am into marketing of pharmaceuticals, the expiry date of a particular med depends upon the formulation a manufacturing company uses. I also do not live in the US, so 'am not familiar with the medicine system there.
It shall be indeed a pleasure to try & answer what ever questions that you may have for me, if I can?
Take care!
I would like to say that as far as the resp meds a pharmcist was the one that told us you could use the resp meds 6 mos after the expire date. Here we have people hungry and homless. They sometimes have to decide if they buy meds or pay their bills, and they pay bills and go without meds. Yes there are meds i believe you should not use after the expire date. And I understand we live in diffrent countries and it could be diffrent. Von
Hi Vonnie,
I agree, there are probably many meds that can be used beyond thier expiration date, it seems to be all about Big Pharma money to me.
Just this girls opinion.
Like you said though, antibiotics don't count.
No offense Rajive!

Sweet, thank you. There are some you can use. They have to put an expire date on everything. And there are some meds I would not take after the expire date. A doc I worked for would not let us throw out any meds and I remember one time I threw out some insulin that was out of date, she had a fit! but she could just have her fit, if I wouldn't let my family or myself use it I will not give it to someone else. @ Raj, if I offended you in anyway I'm very sorry, I'm not a mean or rude person. Thats just not my nature! I think we just come from diffrent countries and things are not the same everywhere. Vonnie
Hey von,

I'm just sooooo glad you listened to your close friends and stay on here to help.Anyone cares for red wine, there are plenty to come,or just prefer the same run-of-the-mill red vote down??? von,I'll mail soooon.ace.
No offense taken at all, Lara, its just a discussion, good to be updated adds to knowledge, anyways.
Rajive
check the foil pack the medicine is in, the date on the script and the date on the foil may be different , I almost threw mine away thinking they had expired . Go by the date on the foil package.
