I was recently prescribed Hydrocodone 5mg Acetaminophen 325mg because i had jaw sergery. my doctor told me to take one at a time no more then 3 times a day. But like most drugs i have an extremely high tolarance. It relieves no pain what so ever. i asked my doctor for something stronger but he insisted it that was the best he could do. honestly how many can i take at a time without risk of overdose? im in extreme pain because they had to break my jaw. the doctor gave me 12 shots in my mouth to numb the pain. i could still feel every bit of it. and was in extreme pain during the sergery. the doctor insisted he already gave me too much and could not do any more for me. I want to take enough to be out of it but not risk my health. i would wrather sleep till this pain is gone. if you need to know my size and weight to judge how much i can handle im 5'9" 180 lbs. please help me soon. i dont want to take too much at once. I know they put the acetaminophen in there to keep people from trying to abuse it. what is a safe limit of the acetaminophin and the codone? sorry my english is not best. hope you can read this ok.

Check with your pharmacist where you filled your prescription and ask them if it would be safe for you to take 400mg of Advil (Ibuprofen) between the time you take your first Hydrocodone 5/325 and the next one. When I had open heart surgery, I was prescribed Tramadol and it wasn't strong enough so my surgeon told me to take 400mg of Advil (Ibuprofen) 2 hours after I had taken my Tramadol and then 2 hours later take my Tramadol. This worked great for my pain.
I suggest talking with the pharmacist because they have way more experience with drugs and their interactions than doctors or dentists do.
If you are still in severe pain and you can't get any help from your doctors, go to the emergency room and hopefully, they will help you with the pain.
If you have chronic severe pain, weight 200 lb range, you should be prescribed and you should take only when needed 2 pills every 4 hours while awake. If you need to take these ritually every day you become immune to them and 5 mg will soon not be enough to manage your chronic pain. This is when your Dr needs to make a decision, change pain medication, increase up to 10 mg from 5 mg, and risk you becoming addicted. Oxy can make you feel really good, and you soon want to always feel that "real goodness" that will ultimately eventually and suddenly end your life. That is reality and never buy from the streets or websites if you do become addicted - that is where the deadly poison fentanyl is found and comes with a death guarantee!
When I have been on Norco and it isnt enough to get rid of the pain, I would take the Norco than an hour or two later I would take 400 to 600 mg of Ibprobhen... this helped alot.. Hope this helps
Try some other pain reliever, or go to pain management, hydromofone are good
What do they look like please
I would say you can safely take 2 1/2 or mabe 3 if you've taken these kind of pills before. You will run out awfully fast then what are you going to do? If the doctor won't give you more, then you will really be in trouble with the pain. Maybe like Billy said, call you regular physican & explain your problem. He may not want to intervene, but it's worth a try. If you decide to increase this medicine, make sure you eat a little something or drink some milk if you still can't eat. It can in larger doses with some people make you a little nauseated. Good luck, so one should have to suffer pain.
Hey j09171985,
You can safely take up to three of these at a time but no more than 6 a day. So it would be better to take two at a time three times a day. That being said, as Caringsonbj pointed out, you will run out of medication before the prescription can be refilled and the doctor will know you took more than the prescribed amount and may find fault with that.
I would encourage you to talk to the doctor as soon as possible and let him know you are miserable. He may tell you to take two at a time then.
It is very important to not let the pain reach high level before taking the pain med, so take it on the schedule that was given to you by the doctor. So try not to be late taking the meds.
I do hope you get relief soon,
Laurie
if I tell you to increase this then it is going to cause you a problem you will run out of medication sooner than you should therefore that puts you back into trouble, I would contact him or I would call the family doctor and if I had to I would be seen in an emergency room rather than suffer, but for me to tell you to increase your medication is me telling you to do exactly what he has told you not to do, I am so sorry that I can't tell you to increase this but I would look for and find another way of being able to do this the right way, please take care
