On the pill the imprint says (aa 825) brownish color pill?

The Answer is most definitely, without a doubt YES. FISH Flex antibiotics are the exact same antibiotics that humans take as long as the number on the fish antibiotic pill matches the number on the official pill identifier and the only ingredient listed on the bottle is the antibiotic. ( Cephalexin, Amoxicillin, etc..)
This is a fact. I confirmed it with my veterinarian.
I had a UTI and I couldn't get into see my Dr until the following Monday. The thought of going to ER at 1 am on a Friday night and waiting 4-6 hours to be seen for a simple UTI was not something I was looking forward to doing. I remembered I had a bottle of Cephalexin 250 mgs leftover from my sons old aquarium. Being that I've had UTI's before I recalled that I had been prescribed Cephalexin ( aka Keflex ) at 500mgs 2 X daily for 7 days.
There was enough of the Fish Flex Cephalexin 250's to take until I could get into see my Dr so Friday night I started taking two 250 mgs equaling 500 mgs every 12 hrs.
Within a few hours my symptoms started to subside. After my 2nd dose my symptoms were gone. Monday afternoon I called my Dr and although I had no symptoms I still made an appointment to be seen the following day. When I went in Tuesday afternoon they ran a UA for a UTI and it came up negative. So taking the Fish Flex antibiotics for 4 days cleared my UTI. My dr didn't prescribe me anything because it came up clean so I bought another bottle of Fish Flex on the way home to complete a 7 day regiment.
My UTI was treated and cleared with FISH Flex with no side effects or problems.
Ive had complete blood work, physicals, Catscans and anything else you can think of since my taking the Fish Flex antibiotics and absolutely nothing is wrong with me. Nothing is wrong because they are the exact same antibiotics that are prescribed to humans, verified by my veterinarian.
FDA has every pill manufacturer put a number on their medication. When one calls poison control they ask for the number on the pill. There is not one number for humans and another for animals. Its EXACTLY THE SAME THING AND I AM LIVING PROOF THAT NOT ONLY ARE THEY EXACTLY THE SAME BUT THEY ARE SAFE TO TAKE AND THEY WORK. All this nonsense about having other fillers in it or whatever, its not true.
So there you go! You have you're answer. And the answer is YES, IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME PILL THAT HUMANS TAKE, IT'S SAFE AND IT WORKS.
Yes. I Have Taken FISH MOX (FORTE) 500MG FOR ONE FULL YEAR NOW.
"TWO PER DAY."
NO MORE EAR INFECTIONS & I HAVE NO ILLNESSES AT ALL NOW.
MEANING "COLDS FLU SYMPTOMS STOMACHE PROBLEMS ETC." YES.
No matter what anyone says- as long as the numbers/shape of the pill matches that of "human" amoxicillin/penicillin/cephalexin then it is the same pill. On the labels of the aquatic antibiotics it says "Not intended for human use" because it is REQUIRED TO. It's a law, they only have to put that to cover themselves and that's how it sells so cheap- because it's "intended" for fish.
I get tonsillitis upwards of 3-5 times a year (can't yet afford a surgery) and I don't have the money to go to a doctor every time I need antibiotics for it. So this is a life saver. If you don't wanna try it that's your opinion, but it's the exact same pill. Period point blank.
I kept getting a strep throat over and over. The doctor told me to take the antibiotic for one extra week and it never came back. I have used Fish Mox for tooth infections and it worked. I am allergic to penicillin abut can take tetracycline's and this works well. I am going to try it now for a stomach ulcer i feel i have. PS. I am a registered nurse.
I have taken this numerous times, when I was beginning to get an Upper Respiratory Infection, and it indeed got rid of my infection before it got worse. Works well for sinus, sore throat, ears, etc.
Yes
I have used fish Mox for my cats. I have taken it myself. Did research on it and even asked my doctor and vet about it. They said it is the exact same thing that you get from pharmacy only without a prescription. I found out about it from a friend that had no health insurance and took it with no problems. I find it in local feed stores. They only carry 250 mg. If you need 500 take 2. Works just as well. As with any medication take sparingly as you can build up a tolerance for it and it won't work so be careful. And no I didn't grow scales or gills
Lol
Hey there I got amoxfin from a friend says can use for cat possibly... only thing is mine says anti bacterial agent then 500mg... on the amoxfin site it says amoxicillin then 500 mg... wondering if these are the same thing ... why wouldn’t mine say amoxicillin??? Have u used this one I have before? Came from amazon where she bought it...
And does anyone know the dosage for cats when using a 500 mg capsule not tablet? Thanks
The dosage of Amox for cats would be 2-10mg/lb of body weight twice a day. Put on your math hat and figure out how much water you would need to dilute your capsule in (allowing around 5ml of water per dose) and shake the daylights out of it before each dose. You can also get a suspension liquid, but they are expensive. I have done this for my friends cats and it took care of the upper respiratory infections. Give the meds for about 7-10 days.
BTW, I have used FishZole for 10 years for my occasional intestinal infections that are a sad side effect of surgery 11 years ago. They were (for a few years) cheaper to get through pet supply, than my insurance copay. They worked fine and were IDENTICAL to human metronidazole. I had not problem using them... but make up your own mind.
Aquatic & avian antibiotics are safe for humans as long as the ONLY ingredient is the antibiotic itself. Dava labs produces the Fish-Mox-Forte & they are IDENTICAL to the human equivalent, right down to the identifying markers/numbers.
I was actually in the same boat about a year ago. I have actually done the same research and even tested it. Fish can be very sensative and there for need the same purity (if not purer) amoxicillin than people do. My old lady had this abscessed tooth, I could only afford a dentist visit and I needed to get her a prescription before the visit because they wouldn't work on her if the area was swollen. So I did research and even ordered some fish mox. That's right, I gave my fiance fish antibiotics(A 45). Sure enough, it worked with no unintended side effects. Don't worry, fish amoxicillin is safe, just be sure you read the label to make sure that's all you're getting.
I found a definitive answer that satisfied me that fish mox is safe for humans. The marking on the side of Thomas' Fish Mox Forte is "AA 825". When you look that up on Drugs.com's Pill Identifier cite it identifies it as amoxicillin - for humans. Check it out (https://www.drugs.com/imprints/aa-825-19446.html). It does not mention anything about the product being for fish. This convinces me that the fish and human versions are identical, for that brand at least.
Thanks, JBS, for the link. I checked mine, which is yellow and says GG 848. I, too, found that it is used on humans!
I have read other posts from people who all say the same but the Thomas Labs products are sold in USA and I need UK lists and prices. Can anyone help?
I have bought them once before actually for my fish when they had a bacterial infection. And I started to get a UTI once and my doctor couldnt see me for a few day and I wasn't about to go to the ER so I took some for a few days and it was starting to clear up but Amoxacillin isn't the best for UTI but it helped keep it in check until I could see my doctor.
I wouldn't reccommend self dosing or self-medicating without seeing a doctor ASAP (Just as a until I can get to my doctor.) the second you can as there could be a larger underlying problem. And since I did see my doctor it turned out my kidney was also infected and the Amoxicillin doesn't really do much for the kidneys.
I am so tired of this confusion. The answer is YES YES YES YES YES!!! There is exactly ZERO difference. None! Anyone saying different is either ill-informed, a paid disinformation troll, or an idiot. This is not an issue of content or manufacturing at all, they are the exact same, this is ONLY, an issue of LABELING! The pills are from the same line the same process the same everything they are the SAME!!! They only label them for different regions, languages and purposes DUH??? I am so tired of people coming on here talking stupid garbage and trying to act like they have the scientific high ground when they have ZERO idea of what the heck they are talking about.
I am sure much of this confusion is by well-meaning people, but I have research, personal during in survival situations, many conversations with physicians and pharmacists and military courses on this subject, they are the exact same pill with different words on the outside of the bottle, If you think that the text/ink on the outside of the bottle magically changes the contents of the bottle, then you may not want to take them.
I agree! The FDA requires the same pills NOT be marked differently in case of accidental ingestion the poison control center needs to be able to find out what was taken. Its all the same. However, if you buy from Mexico... you wont get the same pill! As well, they are about to make it where you can no longer buy these antibiotics online without a prescription OR buy them in pet stores without a prescript from the vet. Too many doomsdayer people ruined it.
Billions of pills mad at the same time! They don't stop production, clean up the machines, and mix up a new batch for animal use only. It would cost a fortune the pill companies aren't going to spend. Good lord. I have taken it and don't have hairy nips or anything from doing so. I laugh. The internet has made us all as ignorant as a Kardashian.
I was prescribed Bactrim and it was $30 for 20 pills. I realized it was the exact same as medicine I had for the horses which was $60 for 500 pills. It's all about the money. I called a close friend who is a pharmacist and he told me to take the horse meds - no difference.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. It's more likely drug company trolls sucking every penny from anyone they can.
I have tried both fishmox and fishpen forte both in the past for a tooth infection and they both seem to work the same as human antibiotics. You will be fine as long as you are not allergic to penicillin. This is a good survival technique if the apocalypse would be upon us and there are no more pharmacies or doctors around to cure infections, or for those of us who don't want to pay doctor/hospital visits just to get a prescription for antibiotics. But yes these are the same pills that you would get prescribed from a doctor. Hope this helps!
I buy fish mox for myself and have taken it,, but each person has to decide for their self. I keep a bottle around in case something comes up that needs amoxicillin. It comes in 250 and 500 mg.
Did it your for your alignment and did you have any side affects?
I have taken FishMox for years... no problems... last weekend ( labor day weekend )my dentist extracted an infected tooth the Tuesday before..I had a reaction to the K eflex he ordered... guess what... when I called to get the script changed to Amixicillin... he was out of the office until the Tuesday after Labor Day... so, I called my Family Doc... guess what... she was out of the office until the Tuesday after Labor Day... boy... what I wouldn't have given for a bottle of Aqua Mox in the cabinet... finally, my Doc check ed in to her office and ordered the Amoxicillin for me... Amoxicillin is cheap ..$4.00... but, that only counts if you are able to get it...
I have a little girl dog... suspect she has a UTI... boys are smelling her when she pees... she has been spayed... so not that... I am an RN... so my medical knowledge says UTI... she acts fine, eating well... boy, would I like to have a bottle of Aqua Mox... not a $45 vet visit, lab charge and yes, that is a UTI... so, suit yourself... I have used it for myself and my animals with no problems for a looooong time... The company selling it HAS to label it for Fish in order to sell without a prescription...
the pills have 1 manufacturer and a dozen "repackagers/distributors". this is why the id on the pill is the same across the board, but the label/NDC can vary from brand to brand. They are all the same pill. they do not manufacture a version for humans, and then manufacture a different version for animals with different standards as some here have suggested.
take Fish-Pen (penicillin V) by Thomas Labs for example... it is manufactured by Dava Pharmaceuticles and then repacked by half a dozen other companies(Pharmedix, PDRX, Golden State MS) including Thomas Labs. Some are marketed for humans, others are not. they are all the same pill.
Thank you, Garbageman, for that clear answer. (Another reason that the Internet is known as the "Trough Of Common Ignorance."-- everyone gives an 'authoritative' answer to everyone else's questions (DZoo) when they really have no idea what the hell they're talking about.)
yes. they are the same exact pill. as long as you buy them from the USA; you are taking exactly the same thing be it dogs, humans, fish, birds, and so on. The FDA requires that pills with the same "number" and "color" not be marketed as anything else. BECAUSE if you accidentally take one, your dog does, you baby, or whatever... when you call the poison control center they need to be able to identify what was ingested. I have taken Pill form and capsule. Even the capsule had the code WC 731 for amoxicillin.
Yup. Well said Garbageman509. I researched this topic extensively due to the fact that I have chronic ear/sinus infections and got sick of having to pay recurring doctor bills for simple antibiotics. My family and I have been using Fish Mox Forte by Thomas Labs for 4 years now and I'm incredible thankful to have them on hand. We've even used them on our pomeranians a couple times when they picked up bacterial infections. Just do your research before you assume antibiotics are required for your ailment. You don't want to be taking them without good reason and always take the full treatment course once you start.
Do you think Fish mox Forte could be taking as well? There pink & purple A45, I thought I purchased the brownish ones, but these are different.
I called the poison control center directly and they said that they're exactly the same, Just saying!
The chemical composition is, and the major fillers may be the same. But there is a reason why fish amoxi is going to be cheaper than human amoxi: they don't have to keep to the same standards of composition, packaging, storage and shipping. It is not going to be like changing from Oscar Meyer to Johnsonville wieners on a meant-for-human-consumption assembly line.
That said, Poison Control Center personnel are not going to be experts on quality control. They are going to be able to help you with treatment for an overdose / poisoning for amoxicillin but they may or may not have proper information on any particular fillers used for that pill's manufacturing. Additionally, they cannot tell you if what you have ingested may be biologically contaminated with any protozoan or microbes that for a human product would be prevented in processing AND packaging - but in an animal product may not have been.
In fact, if that becomes your problem, you may not even be able to identify that the amoxi pill was the cause (as your effects could be days removed from your ingestion).
Shrimp fish food is made of shrimp. It was meant for animals but it is the same shrimp that are used for both processes. However, I would venture a guess that most wise people would not try to eat Wardley Shrimp pellets for a snack.
Unless you want to subscribe to the government / drug companies all being in some sort of big conspiracy, it is simply intellectually foolish, unwise, and potentially dangerous to sidestep medical oversight in taking this, or any other medication.
(The notion that it is okay for a human biology to subjected to animal biology designed drugs - merely because they are chemically the same substance, and because both beings are made up of protoplasm, is just another example of why the internet is also referred to as the "Trough Of Common Ignorance.")
ABYnot, it is funny you are calling other ignorant when the statement you made, while riddled with grammatical errors, is completely nonsensical. Protoplasm is a part of all living cells. It has nothing to do with the manufacturing of drugs. The biggest reason you are not recommended to take animal antibiotics is because of overdosing. If everyone could get their hands in antibiotics, people would take them willy nilly and build up extremely resistant bacteria; for which new drugs would need to be produced. That is the endless cycle that is being avoided. The cost of drugs, intended for humans, is significantly higher due to a variety of reasons, some of which are: the limited access, the cost of storing and distributing and pharmaceutical greed to some extent. I am not recommending you take fish antibiotics regularly but in a desperate situation and with the right guidance they could save your life.
I suspect the contemplated use would be in some disaster or societal breakdown of some sort where normal healthcare is not available for an extended period of time for some reason. In which case, you chance the 'impure' but otherwise identical antibiotic to save a life or limb. Don't you? I doubt anyone on this thread is simply trying to save a few bucks and avoid a dr visit.
ABYnot, the notion that human amoxi. is more expensive than fish-mox is incorrect. generic human prescription amoxi costs $4.00 at walmart/target/etc. for thirty 500mg pills. you will NOT find equiv. dosage fishmox for under $15.00 - $20.00. furthermore, the notion that the medical industry, especially pharmaceuticals, prices their products based on the cost of materials/ manufacturing/ distribution is way off. pharm industry will make/distribute a pill for .002 cents and sell it for 1.99 if they can... and the industry often get away with it. product profit margins are so great in this industry because sales price has nothing to do w/ cost like it does in many industries. however, enough generic antibiotics have flooded the market that it is a competitive enough 'MARKET' for costs to actually be represented in the price. that is why u can pick up pills for pennies.
the entire reason the pharm industry wants 2 'extend' their copyright in these new world trade agreements is so that they can get a lot more years charging people 500%-600%-700% percent of cost when distributing drugs before generics drop the bottom out.
The reason a pill sold for humans is twice the cost of the exact same pill sold for animals, is the reason an airplane that costs $500,000 for the materials, labor and overhead, also has a $500,000 charge for product liability because of a lack of Tort Reform. The same airplane built and used in Mexico would be half the cost.
What does it cost to replace a dog vs. a wage-earning human person?
Here's my delimma...
We moved across country on extremely short notice. Right before leaving, my dentist prescribed me amoxicillin for a couple terribly bad teeth that he felt would be better treated first and then taken. Instead, we lost my pills somewhere. It took me TWO MONTHS just to get in to see my gp. Everything is much more expensive here, as well, from instance to doctors.
When I told the doctor about the prescription, he refused to prescribe the antibiotics. Great. Now my teeth are throbbing, and honestly, I can't afford the dentist on to if everything wiser going on right now, including coming up with almost $700 so my husband can have eye surgery on both eyes! (One a to a time, but Most of that money is facility fees!)
Meanwhile, while we were trying to come up with money for him, my poor dog developed a UTI, so I bought this for her. But now I need it myself, and I can't afford $100 to go to the dentist, while my husband's is at risk of going blind. I'm not trying to be a marytr, just practical.
This is what lead me to this question. And if I can take this and have my teeth much happier for it, that's what I want to do.
