I was on zoloft some years ago, and to answer your question, it took me oh, just about four weeks to start to see some sort of result. I have ocd, and also am anxious. I dropped it, because of two reasons. It kept me awake, and being an insomniac... and it also made me lathargic, which is ok, for my anxiety, but not for my sleep. I took dalmane to help me sleep, but the combination just left me tired, no pep. My dose was 250mg when I stopped it. Most people begin at 50mg and usually settle around 100-125 to 150mg per day. I don't know your diagnosis, so I can't say well, you have this problem and zoloft will help you in a combination of this drug/medication. No weight gain, and so on. I have found through time, my thoughts, opinion only, that today, there is such a vast selection of drug families and the medications in these families, that in this regard, its a blessing. Unlike years ago, when the market was limited, the knowledge today is on our side. Best of wishes to you.
Thank you so much for your response. I'm awaiting for the full effect of mine to work. I appreciate your comment. :)
My experience with antidepressants and the literature says that it can take upwards of a month to reach full effectiveness. So give it time and if there isn't improvement in your symptoms within a month please discuss with the prescribing doctor.
Thank you Laurie :)
Zoloft and most SSRI / SNRI's take roughly one to two weeks to take effect. Some people experience a positive effect sooner, and some don't respond to the medication, and possibly the dosage needs to be increased, and or a different medication needs to be given a try.
Thank you for your response. I'm currently on 25m and I do notice I'm not crying anymore, but... that is about it.
Thank you :)
The first time I was put on this medication I actually felt better within a few days. I was on 100 mg. for apprx. one year. Stopping this drug was problem free the first time, however, I was put on it a fews years later and for only 3 months. When I stopped that time, I had some withdrawal symptoms... mostly headache and lethargy but it went away in a few weeks.
I have been on Zoloft 100mg for well over 10yrs I lost my primary care Dr in January 2017. I had a few refills left on it an last month had to go to my local e.r. to get a 1 mo. Supply. I haven't taken one in a week I'm having withdrawals withdrawal of crying, fatigue, a tingling sensation in my head and thru out my body every few minutes or so. It's a weird feeling I do not like and it's affected my daily routine. I'm going thru a divorce I'm having so much trouble with my ex and it's truly driving me crazy. I have a new man in my life and he's wonderful and understanding. My question is , the side effects of not taking this is what I'm feeling? I'm in an area where Drs are impossible to get in to see in southern WV. I'm going back to the e.r. tomorrow because I can't handle how I'm feeling. Please help me if you can answer this ? About Zoloft. It works great when I'm on it, like I said been on it for along time.
