Vicodin contains a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. It is the hydrocodone component that is of interest when urine drug testing.
Many factors influence how long a drug remains in your system. Body metabolism, physical condition, state of hydration, age, frequency and method of usage will all affect your result.
The rate at which a drug is eliminated from your system is related to its half life.
Hydrocodone has a half life of around 4 hours and acetaminophen has a half life of around 2 to 3 hours. It usually takes about 5 to 6 half lives for a drug to be eliminated from your system.
With that in mind, and other factors as outlined above, for urine testing purposes you should allow around around 2 to 4 days to get hydrocodone out of your system and 1 to 2 days for the acetaminophen.
If you know you are going to have a drug test the best thing you can do is stop taking the drug.

Danielle,
I found the below answer to this question:
Standard drug tests test for opiates that break down into morphine. Heroin, opium, codeine, and morphine will show up on a standard test. Hydrocodone (vicodin) does not break down into morphine so it won't show up on a standard test. However, it is possible (though not normal) to specifically test for hydrocodone. These tests will only detect it in urine for 3-4 days.
I hope this helps. Also, if you are taking this drug for recreational use, I highly suggest you reconsider the quantity and also the reason. Coming from someone who took it because she had to and is now going through all sorts of crazy to get off of it, you may want to reconsider using this. If abused this can be very hard on your liver, not to mention your eventual dependence on it. :(
Take care of yourself.

thank you
Hi, it depends on how long you've been taking it. If you've only been on it a few days, it should be gone in a few days. If you've been on it for more than a few days, it will take 5 to 7 days, may-be 10. Good Luck
Depending on how fast ur metabolism is and how often and how much u take, between 3 to 8 days. If u are young and slim, it will come out faster than if u are older and heavier. If u have, or can get an actual rx, u will b ok. i would NOT take any more if the test will mean ur job.
All depends how many you took over a period of time.Usually even if you've been hittin' em hard you should be good to go in at the most 6 days.
It normally takes 2-3 days to get a bunch out of your system.
