I have been on Victoza for 5 months and have developed both a yeast and bacterial infection in my urine (Strep B). I took antibiotics for the urine infection but still suffer from itchy and sore skin especially in my groin area.
I am a 59 year old woman. Could this be caused by Victoza?
Has anyone reported itchy skin and rash problems on Victoza?

Eight years has passed since the lady who posted the question took Victoza and developed yeast and bacterial iinfections, and it seems little has changed! I was prescribed Victoza recently (2019) and developed several side effects including vaginal itching, yeast infections, injection site redness with painful hardened-swellings, and sore throats, difficulty breathing, nausea, indigestion, etc. I have a history of anaphylaxis & these reactions caused enough concern for me to stop the medications. Almost right away symptoms began to subside until I normalized. This has occured when I have taken Victoza, Farxiga, Jardiance, Januvia, etc, It would seem that none of these more modern medications are going to work on me so I am asking if anyone knows of a sugar-lowering drug that anyone would actually recommend for a very sensitive individual? Am currently investigating the alternative options that are herb-based and am hoping for success via that route so if you have ideas in that direction, I'd like to hear them.
I stopped taking the Victoza five days ago and the itching and rash appear to be disappearing. I am still taking Metformin. So if the rash and itching disappear completely, I will know it was caused by the Victoza.
I just went through the same issues..UTI then 2 weeks later a vaginal yeast infection. I was on Bactrim which does not lead to the yeast infection. The last time I saw my endocrinologist she asked me if I had had a yeast infection and I thought it was a strange question. Now I am wondering if this is going to be something that happens frequently. I will not continue the Victoza if it is.
Have others had this experience also? I have been on the Victoza since June. Interestingly Ruby, I am also 59 yrs old. Maybe it is just an unlucky age??? LOL
I too have been experiencing a strange itchy rash which is progressively getting worse.Am awaiting an appointment with a skin apecialist
Common side effects of taking Victoza do include Urinary tract infection (UTI) in about 7.4% people who take this med.
If you think its too bothersome, you may seek advice form your doc who prescribed the med to give you a more suitable alternative to suit your system.
Take care, please, be well, best wishes!
