my dr gave me a month's sample of viibryd and i've only taken it for 2 days and i feel like i'm starving; she told me that this pill has helped lots of her patients lose weight and i'm on a diet and if it's going to make me gain weight, i don't want to take it. has anyone had any weight loss on this pill?

I need advice about this topic: I was put on 20mg Prozac in 2005. Was off and on it throughout the years but I always felt more like “me” when on. The side effects just got to be too much a few years ago (fatigue, fatigue, fatigue and the sexual side effects) and about 6-8 months ago I was switched to Bupropion. Well that hasn’t worked at all!! The doc switched me to Viibryd today and I’m kinda scared. Would you all say this medication has helped you? What are some of the good and bad side effects that you experienced?

Wow congratulations to all of you who have managed to have weight loss and we are in this together thank you so much to all of you for all your feedback I just started on vibrate started me off at 10 mg this is my second day period and I too have been on almost every med there is lol and I finally let go of the strange feeling it felt to say hey if I'm not going to lose weight with this medication along with what it's supposed to do weight gain is not an option it will only bring me to depression once again and encourage my other dual diagnosis to be on the rise period so god bless us and be with us all and let us keep advocating for ourselves thank you so much. So far well I clean my entire bathroom it looks sparkly lol but it's only the second day. I normally would have worked out by now but I haven't so we will see.
I had just been off of for 7 days will be trend was on that for 6 days and I could not handle the way it made me feel I didn't get anything done and I felt extremely elevated and then I ate the entire kitchen. I'm normally that 1% that responds differently well let us give a hurry for the 1%! And all the other ones all right I love you god bless us all ✝️✝️✝️

I would have to go with YES!!! The meds my DR gave me before Viibryd, caused me to gain like 3-4 lbs! I went back in and oh no, this isn’t going to work lol. So he change my medicine to Viibryd, and in four days I lost 4 pounds. This was all while eating all day, every day because I’m on nerves. Not that I was Wanting to live, but I did come along way because I’ve lost 350 pounds. Therefore I’m pleased that this is actually helping to curve of my appetite. I have now been moved to 40 mg and have gone down like two pants sizes and about 12 lbs all together over the last two months. Very pleased with the way I feel as well. I have a brain injury from a car accident that has triggered my angry brain and man oh man, this medicine has calmed me down!!! I will say though, it gives me a very very dry mouth.

Hi Daisy,
In around 10 months on Viibryd, my weight loss has stayed at 12 pounds, +-I'm pleased with this and have never experienced an anti-d that works so well. There were a few bumps in the road with side effects but I'm really feeling so much better overall. Life changing for me and weight loss a plus. Please keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.

Viibryd works great for weight loss. Nothing has ever helped. It has been great for the depression too. Out of 2 yrs i'v been on it. I'v lost 110lbs. Never tried either. Nothing has ever worked for me like this in my life. 249 to 138. Plus very very side effects :)

I started Viibryd two days ago. I hope it works the same for me. I tried Trintellix a few months ago and gained 20lbs in two months. I have Bipolar Disorder Type II. Lamictal works great for my irritability, but not depression. I've tried at least 7 other drugs over the past 8 years. Crossing my fingers.

Congratulations excellent! I just went up 10 mg I went from 10 to 20. I feel full all the time so this is something that is great however I do have random moments where I'm just like oh yeah bread! But I get full very fast. I find that I'm thirsty a lot craving liquid in juice as far as my depression it's immaculate what it's done to help my depression my focus is much better and I'm able to sit with myself like I'm not tapping my foot or shaking my leg as I'm sitting twiddling my fingers etc sleeping really well as well. The reason my milligram got up from 10 mg is because I suddenly started to feel massive exhaustion but I was feeling that before I started it is why I reported it to my doctor because that symptomatic to my depression. I pray that this 20 mg just continues to have the effect that the 10 mg in the beginning we're in this together God be with us all and thanks for all of your feedback!

The research results are, at 40mg dosage, 4-6% weight gain, and 6-9% anorexia. Most people here have reported weight gain. I have lost 50 pounds in the last year on Viibryd - 40mg, lorazepam (Ativan) - 1mg, topiramate (Topamax) - 100mg and temazepam (Restoril) - 30mg.
Of those only Viibryd and Topamax have any impact on weight, both can cause either gain or loss.
As with all antidepressants, your results will vary. Keep talking to your doctor and see what happens after 6-8 weeks.

Do u have a hard time with topamax? My hands and feet were numb and tingling unbearable. I also got rid of restoril went to 2mg of lorazapam. Made a better diffrence for me. :)

Yes, Topimax does cause tingling hands and feet. It comes and goes and becomes much less as time goes by. As I type this my feet are tingling, but I know it will stop in a couple of minutes. I found that walking around a bit or stretching my calf muscles helps a lot.
When I fist started, I thought I would go crazy, but the doc said it would mitigate; he was correct.
My feet have stopped tingling already.

Thank you RonMan. Hope in medication is hard to find sometimes, loss of faith is much easier to find these days, I'm afraid. You answered my question on the sometimes debilitating tingling in my hands and feet, as well as the weight gain issue that I am so very petrified of.
I have been on a wealth of anti-depressants before now, and until I was on Topomax, all of them had added linear results on my body. I now have some faith in the words of my doctor that since I have had loss with the Topomax, I am likely to continue in the same direction with Viibryd too. Thank you for your words of encouragement. :}

Yes..my doctor gave me viibryd for weight loss and i have been taking it for two weeks and already lost 8 Lbs.,and best off all i am not overly hungry. In fact, i eat very small portions and have more control. I have way more energy and feel amazingly great!! This stuff works!!!

Hello daisyslm82. I did some reading up on your question and found that weight gain or loss wasn't an issue when taking viibryd. It was found that in thge clinical studies, that patients did tend to lose weight, but that it was minimal. But there was no apparent weight gain either. Reading reviews, by people using the drug, weight wasn't an problem or issue. I'm not a doctor, just saying what I found out. Best of wishes,pledge

This is interesting, most people I know on viibryd gain weight. I mostly get tired and sometimes a little spacey. Always hungry though which bothers me.

Ive been on viibryd 7 days now and have lost 10 lbs, but i started counting calories abt thevsame time. However, seems it may have helped cuz ive never lost lbs in past that quickly. . Havent noticed any other side effects so far.
