drop the atenolol but keep taking the lorsartan which is the meds that causes all the awful side effects like confusion, lightheadedness, weak or irregular heartbeat, feeling flushed , pounding heart, etc. etc. Doesn't make sense to me.
Had losartan 100mg hctz25mg added to 25mg atenolol. pulse very low and bp dropped low. Dr. says to?

No, it doesnt make sense AND you cant just quit taking Atenolol cold turkey-you have to be weaned off it. Double check with the Dr. Let him know that it is the Losartan you have had trouble tolerating, not the Atenolol, and also point out to him that you have heard that a beta blocker like Atenolol, should not be stopped cold turkey, that you must wean off. You might want to get a second opinion from another Dr.
Dzoo is right. Can't give TU's anymore ( thank you gods of Drugs.com), but wanted you to know she is absolutely right on with her answer.
hank you so much since you have confirmed my doubts. .. I am scheduled to see a new Cardiac Dr. and will continue my atenolol along with the hctz that I already had been prescribed. I will not continue taking the Losartan/hctz.There is no talking/discussing anything with this Dr. since he bullied me into taking and continuing taking the Losartan in the first place.
Good for you! See someone else. I take Atenolol 50mg and HCTZ 50mg daily and it controls my B/P pretty well. I was like you-I tried several other B/P meds and couldnt tolerate the side effects. They added the HCTZ and that seemed to do the trick.
