... the taking of this medication? Or am I still feeling pain because I am not better? I was injured with c2 and c7 pinched nerves 6months ago. Started with 300mg 3x a day. I reduced down to 1 300mg 1x a day. And now transitioning to 100mg 3x a day to further reduce in the next month. I'm not crying but I do have pain on and off today. This is my first day transitioning from the 300mg 1x per day to the 100mg 3x per day. I'm hoping it's phantom pain but I don't know
Does gabapentin cause phantom pain in the area it is being taken for, while reducing or stopping...

I've heard of the "phantom pain" you're referring to. My dose is quite a bit higher consistently so I've never experienced such pain.
The dose you're taking now is basically the same as previously, just in 3 doses opposed to one pill daily.
My guess is you're still experiencing you're original pain from your injury. I would ask my Dr to increase back to whatever dose helped you the most, when your pain was most relieved. It takes a long time for nerve pain to be settled. 6 months isn't long enough, imo, as well as what my physicians are telling me in my case, to reduce your dose.
Best of luck!
