SOMA is a specific test that is ordered, unless there is a reason to check for it, that is if you are prescribed it and they are looking to check levels of the drug, it is not looked for

Yes I go to my Dr office he has the drug panel and it will show. I've been on carisoprodol for 7 year's

I am randomly tested each month at the methadone clinic I attend. I take at least 3 Soma 350 mg each day. The clinic sends my test to a lab every time without fail, I have never come up dirty for Soma. Even if I took it that morning and was tested the same day. So my answer is NO it won't show on a 12 panel nor a test that is sent off to the lab.

I know this thread is years old, but for anyone still looking for info, the answer is YES. Soma will show up on a drug test, when the drug test is looking for it. I don't know about it showing up on standard 10 or 12 panel tests as a metabolite of a benzo. But people are saying this has happened to them. So the bottom line is ... don't risk it. Soma is a controlled substance. Many pain management clinics and court-related programs now routinely test for Soma because it has become a drug that is highly abused and sold on the black market, and because it has strong sedative properties.
If you undergo a drug test and come up positive for Soma, you could basically plead ignorance of what it was before you took it. But that excuse will only work once, if at all.

I took 10 soma
The day before a urine test. The methadone clinic tested me and I was scared to death . I went and got a 12 panel test for my own satisfaction and nothin showed up. Then when I got the results, nothing showed up either. They did test me twice but all was clean!

Carisoprodol or (Soma) will show up in a drug test if what there testing is your blood and the analyses is performed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technique.
Carisoprodol (Soma) is available by prescription only. Meprobamate is the acive metabolite of Soma.
Be carful with it's use.

Doesnt anyone have an answer? I thought the question was how long not does it show up? Maybe I'm on the wrong thread sorry, But I'd like to say it DOES show up on certain tests. I am under a pain mgmt docs care and they urine monthly for EVERYTHING!! I would like an answer. I did have some old Soma and was in unbearable pain & took it like a week prior to my office visit. Sure enough it showed up and the y asked about it. I got the hand slap kinda thing & told it's a no no when under pain mgmt care they pretty much act like they now own your body and you're required to tell them every med you put into it-even allergy meds. It gets on my nerves since i hate feeling controlled but I have to weigh it out. Controlled/monitored by them or controlled by unbearable pain?

i believe it depends on the type of test you are receiving... i have had it not show up for test in doctors offices and such but have had more severe testing such as state administered test and it did show up... it showed up as a barbituate... so i guess it depends ... if you will lawfully get into some trouble i would atleast wait 4 days before giving urine, if its just a job or doctors office then i wouldnt care to give urinr,but with that being said ... thats me! dont do what i say do what you feel is best for you.

I realize how old this post is but wanted to respond regardless, because someone desperate for help passing a drug test may read it like I did. Im in drug court and test 3x a wk. Failing a test results in jail time for me. I came across some incorrect info and took the risk of taking couple soma. When I tested it showed up as positive for benzo. This was even after I drank enough water to kill me and tried out the sure jell method. (canning gelatin) Needless to say, I now have 4 days to spend in county, So to anyone reading through this be cautious of how much trust you put into the info you read on internet. Of all the drug test Ive ever taken and its ALOT, the only way I have found to pass is to use someone elses CLEAN pee or not use!

On July 13, 2004 soma/carisoprodol was legally scheduled a controlled substance in schedule IV. It's funny to read through some of the posts on the internet and is obvious that most answers come from assumptions or something someone heard from someone who heard from someone who was told by a Dr. Doesn't anyone remember elimentary school... You know the one where someone says something and it get passed around the class, then by the time it reaches the last person, the fact has been so twisted from the what was first said. Look, ask a Doc or pharmacist. Some answers may vary but i got that info off the DEA's website. And as far as the drug tests go, when i 1st started having back probs, my Dr prescribed me 350mg soma. That was the ONLY thing i was taking, but then when I went to a clinic to get treated they refused it and the readoning was that i tested pos for a benzo. I was infuriated because i knew i didn't take any xannies or valium.
When i asked my family doc he informed me that they are in the same fam of drugs. Now i don't know why i would have a false pos for benzo's when they are benzos n soma is a barb like acid but both i believe are cns depressants and maybe thats why the false positive... For those asking questions i feel your pain cause good info is hard to find while surfing the web because most people answer w/o doing any real research and just typing off the top of their head(the elimentary effect).. hope that helps. Know a little late but i was curious too. The best answer i could find was one that came from the doc 3yrs ago...

I work as a RN for a primary care doctor who prescribes pain medicine so I do around 10-40 tests a day and we use a standard 12 panel and our patients who are prescribed soma never test positive for any benzo nor morphine but I have heard of this happening? my opinion would be to not even risk it, wait until you have 3-5 days to spare before a drug test, especially when your freedom is on the line or go to your local smoke shop and purchase some fake urine or look in your high times magazine for it

If I had to guess it would be yes. I talked to a pharmacy and they told me that Soma's will produce the same chemical that valium produces once it is matabalized in your body.

I know this was posted 9 mo. ago, but in case someone else comes across it like I did:
Soma shows up in urine drug tests as what it metabolizes into, Carbamate & Meprobramate (sedative/tranquilizer/benzodiazepine-type drug), among with other things. If these show up, they would have to ask for further testing of that urine sample you gave them to make to get a definitive answer as it wouldn't show up on a urine panel test.

no, soma is NOT a benzo, its a muscle relaxant, an example of benzos are xanax,klonopin, temazepam etc,the only thing that connects benzos and somas is that they both produce muscle relaxant qualities

Drug tests do not test for the actual drug in your system (like Soma/Carisoprodol). Rather, they test to see if your system contains the substance which the drug is metabolized into. Carisoprodol is metabolized into, amongst other chemicals, meprobramate and carbamate. Even though Carisoprodol is not a benzodiazepine drug, benzodiazepines can also metabolize into meprobramate and carbamate. If you have a drug test for benzodiazepines, then Carisoprodol may give you a false positive.
If you get a positive for benzo's, even if it's a false positive, they may test further to find out exactly what drug it is. That's the only way for them to find out if your taking S/C besides seeing your prescription for it.

If you were prescribed a barbiturate. Can that cover you for the false/positive that soma most likely shows up as? For a methadone u.a. I have chronic pain and get horrible muscle spasms. I don't understand why something that can help me so much can be so illegal. I have been prescribed up to 8 per day. That's waaaaay too many!!! Taking two to four is most effective. I understand why people abuse such drugs as I am also unfortunately an addict. But I did drugs that helped my pain. And for that... you are deemed an addict. It is what itis. I hate methadone and everything it stands for. They own you... especially if you are on a higher dose. I hope and wish people would stop abusing pain medication that people really need. Because the few affect the rest. Addict or not... I feel pain just like the next person. So again... I understand that soma is NOT a barbiturate and breaks down as something else. Which they sometimes need to test further to discover.
However, my question is if it breaks down and shows as a barbiturate which mine will because I was prescribed one. Could that possibly cover the soma false/positive and not give me a dirty u.a. I've been clean for years now. However I am not perfect and never claimed to be. I am tired of being in pain and no one helping because I have been an addict. I am wanting to abuse ANYTHING. Just trying to survive without constant pain. If they discharge me from the methadone clinic that is truly torture for anyone who has chronic pain. I have buldging disks in my back an neck from being rear ended. I have muscles that buldge out on one side of my back at times. I get muscle spasms so bad in my neck and back I can't stand it. I've tried EVERY non narcotic or non controlled praying it worked. Nothing has helped like soma. Combined with methadone. I was on xanax from 16-29. I truly have generalized anxiety disorder. And I willingly got off that. It is very dangerous to take with opiates or methadone. I just hope that everyone who is taking and abusing this medication to get high realizes that you are ruining it for the people who truly need this medication. I hope someone can answer my question. ANY DRUG WITH ( --- azepam ) is a benzodiazepam. PERIOD POINT BLANK... THESE ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT SHOW UP AS BENZO

a 12 panel wouldn't show it, soma's can only be tested from a specific code used for soma, a normal panel doesn't have a spot for soma, they only test for the "top 12" drugs used, the panel for CPS doesn't even test for soma

I am on adult probation and have monthly testing and my first test is tomorrow.. I would like to know if soma/carasiprodol shows up on drug testing and if so what does it show up as and how long is it in your system?

I know fist hand that it does show up on drug tests,,but under what,,barbituates,benzos or morphine,,i need to know as I am going to my doc and need urine test today... and i a m 6 days late n need to know since i no that it will probably be out of sysytem,,and they r going 2 wonder why? But I do take opites sor back pain as i have had surgery on my back,,horrible pain and amso took a xanax for anxiety,,so wonde if will show up as one of them,,the soma that is... please answer asap,,thanks!!!

sorry for the miss slelled words,,need to know if soma will show up in aurine screening,,if taking opitaes,benzos,methdone?? please help me understand as they have taken this urine test before and they said that somw does show up,,bt I here that not in the10 panel normal drug screening,that they must have different strip..is this true? and if so how do I beat this as I haven't had any of my somas for about 5 days now..thanks i appreciate this!

Well methadone contains synthentic opiates. Will stay 5 to 6 days in your system.
Benzos will show as benzos.Depending on the benzo it will remain 2 to 4 days in your system.
Soma can casue a false positive for morphine.Soma will remain in your system between 3 to 4 days.
If you have any prescriptions from your doctor I suggest you take them with you, and let them know before hand that you are on these meds.

it is, it is, a benzo most people think it's ok.That was a year ago, hey things change it was'nt controlled before guess what it is now. They have alway's known if u took it on the right combination of a drug test, they just did'nt say nothing.well now they do it's highly illegal in 17 state's.
