I've been prescribed for sleep. I tried one for awhile and then the other. Right now, I believe the Mirtazapine helps me sleep better. Can you help me with the difference on these two.
Thank you

I read a study that discussed the use of Clonazepam (Klonopin), and I was shocked. If used for too long, it can cause permanent memory loss. Doctors in the US, the MidEast and Ecuador had me on it for years, and not one doctor said a thing.
I love the fact that Mirtazapine helps me to go to sleep quickly, and I don't feel "woozy" every morning.
Very few people are made aware that the benzodiazepines like Klonopin can cause serious long term side effects including memory loss, increased depression, increased anxiety, and even some physical ailments.
It's surprising that the few doctors who still prescribe this addictive stuff don't advise their patients of the dangers associated with this class of drugs.
B house the Mirtazapine is more for this (( Mirtazapine is an antidepressant. The way these medication works is still not fully understood. It is thought to positively affect communication between nerve cells in the central nervous system and/or restore chemical balance in the brain. And then the Clonazepam is more for PANIC OR ANXIETY AND ONLY TAKE IT AS THE DOCTOR SAYS IT CAN BE hard to get off of. lots of times they can use it to help you with the type of episodes that come on that the Mirtazapine. Also, that is used just for sleep and is very effective. but if you to take it daily try and take it at about the same time.
For what it is worth my friend I have also taken these two and I found the Mirtazapine to be a much better pill for sleep. and the Clonazepam depending how your doctor wants you to use it is good for anxiety or you're just too keyed up. but use it sparingly for your own good it can be very hard to withdrawal from. I had not been on here in awhile and I was so glad to see you had responded. I have always trusted your advice. I started using the Mirtazapine and it has helped me sleep. I had been on Ambien for years and I was seeing more memory loss. I would wake up with it and couldn't get back to sleep. A question, taking the Mirtazapine I had started having dreams and they are so real. Is this a side affect and if it is, will it get better? Also, since Mirtazapine is an antidepressant will it interfere with my Bupropion and Zoloft. I do have a doctor who specializes in this, but, my appt is in mid January and her office will open on the 2nd. But, I have always gotten good advice from this site. Especially you, thank you for responding.
Bhouse; Thank you very much for the kind words. I would not worry about the weird dreams I believe they do get better. And one thing for sure this is much safer than taking Ambien with the other two. But you will be just fine until you hear from your regular doctor. So I think I got it all but feel free to write me back if I missed anything this darn eye's and chemo brain are still bothering me it has been very nice to see your around feel free to poke in anytime. have a better NEW YEAR. chuck1957
Hi Chuck1957, because of the dreams I had on the Mirtazapine 15 mg, I had my doctor prescribe something else. Besides the dreams, the Mirtazapine 15 mg worked well for sleep.
She prescribed me Trazodone 50 mg and to start off by cutting them in half and take 25mg. If I needed the 50mg if the 25mg didn't work so good to start taking the 50mg. So far, they are working ok... it does take longer to fall asleep, so I think I will start taking the 50mg. What all do you know about this Trazodone? I know it's cheaper on my wallet. Haha. I hope it helps me.
chuck1957 I have up the trazodone to 100mg. I noticed I have dreams on this one, too.
I'm thinking of going back on Mirtazapine. What is the difference between Mirtazapine and trazodone? Seems like I did sleep better with the Mirtazapine. Could you please help me with this. Thank you very much.
