Colecalciferol is the name for vitamin D3 in a nice form which is more than 2 times the bio-availability of the other one.
In Australia all this can be bought at the supermarket in bulk, so I take 1000IU D3 (colecalciferol) daily and a 100,000 IU single dose every 6 months or so on prescription. There are no side effects from the high dose.
