I take Synthroid in the morning and there is a drug interaction.
Can I take Atenolol at night, instead of in the morning?

Since 2004, I've usually taken my one dose of 25mg of atenolol ONLY before bedtime to avoid unpleasant waking up in the middle of the night with tachycardia (fast, pounding heartbeat) - advised to do so by my doctor, to make sure my heart rests as I sleep. I only take a bit extra during the daytime if I develop *unexpected* tachycardia or discomfort in my chest (e.g., without having run or done any heavy exercise, when tachycardia is normal), such as perhaps after a very tense or upsetting situation at work.

Yes. I take Atenolol at night to avoid the tired feeling I often experience in the daytime. My Tachycardia tends to ramp up in the early morning hours, so taking it at night seems to help. My Doctor is the one who suggested the nighttime routine, and I respect his advice.

No, Atenolol is a morning drug. Before you start the day. Call your pharmacy and see what time frame you should have between drugs.

I disagree. My doc told me to take atenolol at night. I take 2 at night with my topomax - no problems at all.

The reason why I was told in the morning was that you do not want your heart problems to kick in before taking the drug. Take it in the morning before things get out of hand.
