I was on 25 mg extended release for rapid heart rate and anxiety. They switched me to regular 25mg twice a day. I have achy kidneys, peeing constantly. Exhausted. Back hurts. Heart beating out of control. My BP is fine, my HR Is 120-150. Can't sleep. Hair is falling out. Gained 10 lbs. I am a mess. I am 5'8 160. A female. 56 years old. Feel like crap all time. Can't function. Some one else please tell me it's not in my head. I already suffered from anxiety, but it is over the top and, this is adding too... UGH! I struggle every day to get out of bed & go to work. Help!

Check out “Hyperthyroidism”. You certainly need a consult with a Endocrinologist. Also your heart rate is too high, possibly due to underlying issues. Cardiologist should be on board as well(especially in mid 50ish age) Hopefully you have received an appropriate resolution by now.
My wife takes metoprolol XR 25 mg and when i took her to hospital for Afib they had changed it to 2 times a day of 25 mg regular metoprolol and had problems of racing heart . You should contact your doctor soon and let them know what is going on , or get checked out at the ER this is nothing you should hesitate on . I think your anxiety is caused by your symptons of the problems you are having . Good luck and my prayers are with you .
I recently started metoprolol and have been experiencing UTI like symptoms but have tested negative for UTI and other possible infections TWICE in the last two weeks. Did you find any answers for your situation?
Hi, Retrohair!
These symptoms aren't listed in literature on metoprolol as side effects although hair loss has very rarely been reported. Have you talked to your doctor about this? It might be a good idea to be sure there's not an undiagnosed condition causing these problems.
Best regards and I do hope you're feeling better soon.
Unusual side effects like your UTI should be reported to your doctor and the FDA. Call FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 to report by telephone. Or you can Google "FDA report side effects" for information on how to report online.
Given the severity of your symptoms I'd advise talking to your doctor ASAP.
