... almost 4 years. I have tried so many different things without success. Since taking aloe Vera I have experienced some marked relief. Would some one else out there please try this to see if it works. It must be the medicinal aloe Vera plant. Peel off the green skin and eat the White gel. Give it a go and post if it works for you. Good luck

Hi Diane,
I have had BMS for 10 years. I have never tried aloe Vera though I've tried many other things. I have a huge aloe plant in my house.
Is that the medical aloe plant?
I've read aloe is tart. How does it taste?
Also how often do you eat it a day?
If you answer my questions I'm willing to try aloe
Thx for your posting

Hi raquel, I've had bms for 4 years. Tried everything. The aloe Vera advice came from a naturopath as a last resort after 18 months of treatment with no improvement. All I do is cut a leaf off the plant, trim off the spikes and the green skin, cut into 1" pieces ( or whatever) then eat it. It doesn't have much taste - can be a bit bitter but that's nothing. I only have small plants at the moment, and am eating maybe a leaf a day - strangely It seems to help. Give it a week and please let me know if you have any luck. At least this is a fairly cheap experiment. I've spent so much on different remedies and this is the only one that's helped. Good luck.
Ps - make sure it's the medicinal one. There are different types. Mine has white spots/marks on the leaves.
Hi Diane,
Can you find out the specific name of the aloe vera plant you are using? I just tasted my aloe Vera plant and put some of the inside gel on my tongue. I won't do that again.
But would purchase the plant you have. Thank you!

aloe vera barbadensis
I know it tastes pretty ordinary! Please persevere. The more I have, it seems the better it gets. Have a search on the Internet for aloe Vera and burning mouth syndrome. There is a bit of information on what to do and how much to take. It's not too bad once you get used to it. I am actually getting decent sleep at last! My condition has definitely improved out of sight. Good luck.
Hi Diane,
I think my aloe plant is a barbadensis. I watched a video on how to filet the leaf to get to the edible part. I blended it with coconut water and also ate some. I'll drink some each morning and let you know if it helps. I friended you on this website.

Diane,
How long were you eating aloe before you noticed results/less pain?
-Raquel
It's pretty gradual. I'm sure it's working though. I have tried every diet, no sugar, no alcohol, no gluten, no life!!! Naturopaths, Chinese herbs, sprays, lipoic acid, mouthwashes everything. I tried aloe Vera in desperation. I guess I've been taking it for about a month. I am having periods of no burning now. My BMS was constant. Felt like I was chewing glass some days. The aloe Vera is the only thing I'm doing different. I'm convinced it works. Give it a try. Perhaps it will take a while as you've had it for 10? Years. I don't think you could overdose on it. Maybe up your dosage. I'm eating about 4 or 5 pieces a day, about an inch each piece. Keep me posted. I do hope it works for you.
Diane, how much do you eat daily?
how do i know if it is the right aloe vera plant and where do you buy them my local grocery store has aloe vera leaves for sale are they good to use
Forever living do an aloe vera based toothpaste. I don't have burning mouth but my gums have bled my whole life until I started using this toothpaste. I have also not had a mouth ulcer for as long as I can remember. I distribute these products and have just ordered some for a friend who has burning mouth. It will be interesting to see if it helps her.
