2 days ago, I complained about 3 teeth on the top left side hurting. I figured it was my wisdom tooth trying to come in and moving my teeth to do it, so I took ibuprofen and used some orajel and dealt with the pain. The next day, I had the same toothache, but there was also a sore spot along my gums, right where the gums meet the cheek. It hurts to the touch but I didn't notice any major swelling. I tried ice, more orajel, and alieve/ibuprofen. Nothing truly helped, except for the 30 minutes of relief from the pain killer. The next morning, (this morning), my entire left cheek is swollen to the point where I can't open my mouth. what the heck is happening?
Began as a toothache, moved to my gums, now my cheek is swollen & I can't open my mouth. What is it?

Hi, i am going through the same exact horrible situation! Please help.. What was wrong??
Hi swollenandinpain,
You need a dentist, asap! You may have put this off so long that the jawbone may be infected, just sayin', not trying to be judgmental about this.
You may need a wisdom tooth extracted, this exact thing happened to me and I put it off way to long as well. The pain you are experiencing is just a symptom of a problem, so get thyself to the dentist as soon as you are able to do so.
I hope you can be seen very soon and hope your jawbone isn't infected.
Best wishes to you swollen,
Lara
Oops, forgot to add that your dental situation could be potentially dangerous as the infection grows. The infection could end up in your bloodstream, causing many more problems! So, please, see your dentist!
