I am developing skeletal, joint pains for a little over a year now and have been tested for autoimmune diseases which were all negative. Also had a recent Bone scan and it shows low bone mass in a few places. Can this be caused by excessive use of pantoprazole? My doctor wants me to stay on it. I have no symptoms of GERD or acid reflux at all
Barrett's Esophagus - I have been taking Pantoprazole for 16 years for Barretts esophagus.

My doctor wanted me to stop my PPI drug which I have been taking for many years. She felt it would cause bone loss etc., but I feel if it has worked for my reflux and BE why would I stop it and maybe end up with more serious issues. I do not suffer from heartburn etc. I stay away from spicy food that gives me a bit of a problem. I drink my coffee everyday, and it does not bother me. You have to weigh out what could or could not happen if you were to stop. I have a lot of joint pain, and I am full of Arthritis.
You are correct. It is a difficult choice. Thank you for your input.
