I have a right Kidney Infection and I started Azythromyacin ZPack. Last night. Was left over... Can't get into Doctor until tomorrow. I am sure he will switch me to Cipro. But, the pain is great! Also, does AZO Standard work for Kidney pain, as it does UTI Pain?
Will Azithromyacin (Z Pak) work for Kidney Infection?

Yes z pack does work for kidney infection but severe kidney infection usually requires both z pack and Cipro. Although 4 ounces of cranberry juice can make a big difference in clearing up any uti including kidney. Also in prevention of infection. I've had kidney infection alot as a child due to tubes leading from the kidney to the bladder being too large and coming in at the bottom of the bladder instead of the top. Also the sphincter muscle never developped. I couldn't take sulfa drugs or I swole up like a balloon. I had major surgery to fix the problem when I was 10. I learned after that to continue drinking cranberry juice at least 3 times a week to keep infection away and at the first sign that I have one to drink the juice daily.
Thank you for the information Christina! I went to the doctor today and he gave me Cipro. Unfortunately I can't have cranberry juice as I am on Warfarin. I wish I could, I had a kidney infection in 2004 as well and it really helped. I hope you start feeling better as well :)
Can you have blueberry juice or fresh blueberries? They work also. I hope your infection goes away quickly, I wouldn't wish any pain on my worst enemy.
Although it's 2 years later for this post... cipro is a terrible drug... should be taken off the shelf... I was given it and now have bone issues...
