I have been taking trazodone for 4 years at a high dose (450mg) and was also taking hydrocodone among other things, with it for a long time for PTSD-related insomnia. I recently had my gallbladder out and had to stop taking my ydrocodone cold turkey because of a liver scare. Once I stopped the hydrocodone, I started getting restless (like full-body restless, not just restless legs) about 30-45 minutes after taking my trazodone. I am now in the process of discontinuing trazodone, but still get restless. Anyone else get this effect with trazodone? I also take Klonopin and this does not help with the restlessness.
Does anyone else get restlessness on trazodone?

For me, trazodone has had the exact opposite effect from what you are describing. If I take 50mg at bedtime, I will sleep 6-7 hours. If I take 75mg, I will sleep 8-9 hours. If I fail to take anything, I wake up with intrusive thoughts at any hour and have trouble getting back to sleep. Before starting trazodone, I was napping 30-90 minutes midday. Since starting trazodone, I have not wanted to nap, not even once. I'm sure your psych doc is concerned about long term use of any opiate. Hydrocodone and oxycodone scare the bejeebers out of me. Unless you're suffering severe chronic pain, you should find a way to avoid all opiates.
It may be difficult to tell in my question, but the reason I started having restlessness was because I stopped taking the hydrocodone. My psych doc was not concerned with me taking it, but I got pathology results after I had my gallbladder out in October. That said my liver was inflamed. So my general practitioner who was prescribing the hydrocodone had me stop taking it cold turkey because of the acetaminophen in the hydrocodone which can cause liver damage. Further liver tested was performed and it turned out my liver was fine and healthy. I chose to continue with the hydrocodone detox anyways and just stop taking it and deal with my chronic pain in other ways. Anyhow, the hydrocodone was covering up a side effect of restlessness from the trazonone which I would have realized if I had gotten off the hydrocodone earlier. Now I'm detoxing off of the trazodone completely. Down to 12mg. Will be off of it completely in four days. :) I am very sensitive to medication, and get the strangest side effects.
its a really high dose
