I have no rash and no interactions w/medications/vitamins I take (have taken the same for approx 1 yr). This started 4 - 6 wks ago (no dry skin or sun damage). So far, I have tried Cortizone-10, Lamisil, Tinactin, Benedryl cream, Medline Skin Repair cream, Cetaphil, even Selsun Blue (known to clear up skin rashes when nothing else has(it's true, I've seen it)). To date I have had no change or relief. It has kept me awake at night which is extremely frustrating. I've even scratched my arms with a hairbrush (it was so itchy it was the only thing I could think of). Has anyone out there suffered with the same? Is there an OTC cream that works? I can go to my GP but my hours/days of research has shown that docs really don't know the answer and blame "stress". I have been through that before only to find sometime later that I did have something medical and was quickly treated and resolved, that was a bad experience and I don't want to go through that again... that in itself is very stressful! I am under no stress. I have not changed laundry soap, bath soap, perfume, lotions or eating habits. This came on sudden and has NOT gone away. If anyone has had these symptoms, any thoughts you may have is greatly appreciated! (FYI, I am a healthy, 49 yr old female, athletic w/healthy eating) Thank you
Has anyone experienced itchy forearms, from elbow to wrist, no reason?

I have had this condition for over 10 years. The 1st 4 years were the worst as no doctor was able to diagnose me and one even told me it was all in my head. It was ruining my life and my relationship! I finally got sent to a specialist who told me it was invisible hives. While still confusing as only my arms itched, the meds he gave me worked and for 7 years I rarely had a flareup. After 7 years though, my research had me discover that the meds I had been taking (antihistamine) causes memory loss, so I went off and have been working with my naturopath on eliminating foods that I am sensitive to. Now a year later it is back with a vengeance. I have tried otc antihistamines, hydrocortisone's, and icepacks, yet nothing has worked. So I've gone back on the Rx antihistamines and am hoping they start working again soon. Anyway, hopefully it can give you some relief too. 25mg Hydroxyzine (aka atarax) 1-2 per day.
I also see that there is a name for this now (Brachioradial Pruritus), but I haven't really found that anything they suggest helps.
My itchy forearms started when i began taking niacin, and was part of the niacin flush. gradually, my forearms were more or less itchy all the time, but worse during the niacin flush. i'm really surprised to see on this forum that so many people have itchy forums too.
I also have this problem. Both forearms, but seldom at the same time. Ice packs in the area is great for immediate relief. I have found that taking "vitamin b complex 100" keeps the itch away. This is the only thing I have found to give me relief and seem to work very well for me. One each day does the trick. Hope it can help others!
This has been happening to me as well, and it is driving me CRAZY! I have tried everything that I can think of.
I know it has been a long time since this question was asked. I have had this problem on and off for about 8 years. I am currently up at 4 in the morning with an ice pack on my arm. For me... it is never both forearms. It is always my right forearm and it is almost always itching and burning at late night hours. It is very annoying. Ice packs always work for me.I rub them gently up and down my right forearm until it is numb and it goes away. I have also used very cold water when i dont have access to ice packs. I have come to this site and read articles about this problem and multiple places online. I am just glad I am not crazy. For a while I thought I was.
Have the same thing and it has been suggested it is caused by a pinched nerve or worn disc in the neck. Cold water or ice pack is the only thing that stops or eases the itch.
I ám 63 and this started 6 months ago on
my right forearm only. I THOUGHT IT WAS àn allergic reaction to tomatoes
I was eating more so than normal. I have tried anti itch creams with no luck. Was hopine to find some thing on this site to
Help.
I too am 63 and this itching has been going on for at least a year. It is horrific ! I went to my skin doctor and he prescribed some med that made my hair fall out. Then back to my primary he put me on prednisone that helped somewhat but I can't be on that forever. Bottom line there is no cure known - am hoping it goes away someday. It was suggested that I try using an ointment called Sarna - it is around $10 .. now that works pretty well but it stinks. ( Brachioradial pruritus. Brachioradial pruritus (sometimes abbreviated BRP) is an intense itching sensation of the arm usually between the wrist and elbow of either or both arms. The itch can be so intense that sufferers will scratch their own skin to a bleeding condition.) Best of luck to you !
It's driving me crazy!!! I can be sitting at my desk at work and its starts. No warning no triggers. Tonight at cinema I had to leave to get outside to try cooling it down. I can't stop it from starting but I can stop it. Anti histamine immediately.thick coating of sudacream til my arms are literally thick with the stuff. And wait. Relief within around 30 mins. Still painfully prickly but enough relief to stop scratching.let me know how it goes.
my boyfriend is experiencing this too. it started on one arm, went away, now is on the other. looking on the internet i ran across several sights that say it can be a pinched nerve in the neck. i believe he has that so im sending him to the chiropractor asap. good luck. there is a doctor on youtube explaining this. its called Brachioradial Pruritus.
Same problem. Cannot pinpoint cause. Use benadryl.
Broken fibula 3 months ago now in boot.
INHALER DRUG INTERACTS WITH IPRATROPIUM ?
This same exact problem is affecting me and I am going crazy. I had it on m,y left forearm and I was wearing those lates wrist bands. I tookl it off and it was gone.
Now my right arm has been scratched from forearm to scabs and it is all around a real [pain because the anti itch band aid stuff doen't help , nor does benedry spray. What do OI use.
Hi did the chiro work? Was it a pinched nerve? Very interested to know what happened ... as I have a similar condition on my right forearm
Have you tried taking an anti histamine for the itch? I can't for the life of me think of something that would only effect your forearms. It sounds like it should be something of a contact nature rather then systemic because its only on your forearms.

IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH MEDICATION. I remember my father being very uncomfortable with itching after a shower. It drove him almost crazy. I have it now on one or the other forearm. It does die down eventually but Im convinced its connected with medication. Blood pressure meds. Im going to try Antihistamine tabs.
