My dr switched me to dilaudid after me telling him the 30 mg oxy was not helping. Now I am so sick, sweating like a horse (I know I am not) but sure the heck feel like one "neeigh! lol.. curiuos if this is all in my head or am I having some sort of w/d... thanking you all in advance ... pamee
Does anyone know the equivalence of 4 mg Dilaudid to 30 mg Oxycodone?

Every time I google an equivalence chart I am not able to find one that I am able to figure out.. ugh! Now I am sneezing with watery eyes and so so sick... could I possibly be coming down with a virus?

Oxycodone 30mg is stronger in a pill battle, dilaudid is stronger when give intravenous and is the emergency rooms go to pain management!! You would have to take eight times the amount of Dilaudid pill to reach the 30 mg oxycodone effect. Hope this helps

I found out I was allergic to oxycodone 5-325 so was given hydrocodon 5-500, which didn't do a thing for me. I read about dilaudid and after what I read I wouldn't want to take these meds. also. I don't know the equivalence didaudid has to oxycodone. You need to talk to your Dr. to find out what is going on with this med. It is not all in your head. Good luck

Thank you much! I went back on the oxy and am no longer sick, but will be talking to the dr Monday. If you don't mind sharing, what do you need the pain meds for and what do you take for pain while dealing with the allergies?

The pain meds. were from breast cancer and then I fell on my elbow and had nerve damage so I had both surgeries in two weeks. That was the reason for the pain meds. plus for things happening later. I was later being treated for a year long cough. I even cracked 3 ribs from coughing. I was given all kinds of meds, inhalers, cough syrup so I went to a different Dr. and he said I had reflux without any symtoms. I was given singulair and this put me in the hospital because of horrible side effects. It was awful. I still have the cough but I take a lot of cough drops and it's ok. I have a benign thyroid tumor so I thought this was causing the cough but was told my thyroid was fine. It is what it is... right. Thanks for asking

I think the dilaudid was just way too strong and shocked your system. No matter what ya hear, oxycontin doesn't stand pound for pound w hydromorphone. They both have different affects. The oxy will typically come over you lightly w a lil kick of energy... the dilaudid hits more like a hammer and has a strong warming affect and you could possibly get sick, the itches, etc.

It's 8.44mg of dilaudid. There's a conversion page on the web but forgot to copy the page name but if you just type in opiate conversions and you'll find it. There's a part that says cross tolerance % and it says the normal is 25-75% I put 25 so you might want to change it if you know your tolerance is higher. Good luck.

30mg of oxycodone is roughly equal to 8-10mg Dilaudid. So if he put you on only 4mg, you may be having some withdrawals. I would contact him and let him know your symptoms.

They usually do start you a little lower when you change drugs. Just because you are tolerant to one opioid doesnt mean that same tolerance will carry over to the new one. He is probably going to have to adjust your dose a bit.

I'm so sorry that you are having w/d symptoms, w/d sucks! I hope your doc adjusted your dose and no more withdrawal!!

Hi Lara, I called and he wasn't in, I dnt think doctor's work on Fridays here in Calf lol ... anyway his receptionist told me to go to ER, but I had some Oxy another doc gave me last Fri, so I am taking that til I see my p/m dr Monday. If he writes me a new script for more oxy my pharmacy will flip lol ... thank you for thinking about me! May you have a great weekend.

BINGO, that was it, you just needed your oxy. Glad you feel better and I hope your doc doesn't hit the roof when he finds out you took the oxy.
If he is a decent doc, he won't!

Yep Bingo! So glad my other dr gave me oxy from my procedure I had Feb 15. I believe my pain mang dr will be fine with me taking it, but my pharmacy gave me third degree questioning when they filled the oxy on the 15th then I took the script of the dilaudid 6 days later. They told me they weren't going to do it, but once I explained to them that another dr gave the xtra oxy for after my surgery they then filled it, but dang all the convincing I had to do lol ... thank you again friend!!

Even tho you've a legal rx? I suppose they must cover their butts, yet still...

Yes I'd definitely speak with your doctor about that. Switching you from a 30mg Ocycodone witch is generic of percoset to a 4mg diladid... Yes I'd definitely say you're going through withdraw.

LoL ABSOLUTELY NOT. 4mg of dilaudid packs a bigger punch than 30mg of roxicodone. I have 8mg dilaudid and even when I take 2-3 30mg roxi, it's not even close to the same potency.
