Is 2000 mg of amoxicillin per day too much?

Assuming the patient is an average adult, 2000mg/day of Amoxicillin is not too much. Whether it is the right dose depends on the infection and the condition of the patient. But Amoxicillin is frequently prescribed 500mg 4 times per day.
