Norfloxacin ophthalmic Side Effects

Oral route (Tablet)

Fluoroquinolones, including norfloxacin, are associated with an increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture in all ages. Risk further increases with age over 60 years, concomitant steroid therapy, and kidney, heart, or lung transplants.

Serious side effects

Along with its needed effects, norfloxacin ophthalmic may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Some side effects of norfloxacin ophthalmic may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Ocular

Ocular side effects have most frequently included local burning or discomfort. In addition, conjunctival hyperemia, photophobia, corneal deposits, and chemosis have occurred.[Ref]

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included reports of bitter taste in the mouth following instillation of norfloxacin ophthalmic.[Ref]
