Jar contains enough product to fill eighteen (18), 3 mL syringes, which can be pre-filled upon opening the jar.

Description

Using the process of “reverse thermal gelation,” the viscosity of KC Oto-Pack increases as the temperature increases. The gel, if kept cool such as under refrigeration, will be in a semi-liquid state, easing transfer to a syringe. Once placed in to the ear, and warming to body temperature, the gel will thicken to a semi-solid state. KC Oto-Pack then coats the epithelial surface of the ear, releasing the ketoconazole and hydrocortisone slowly over a period of up to 7 days. If the indication for use persists, multiple weekly applications may be required. KC Oto-Pack does not require removal from the site of application as it is non-toxic and biodegradable.

USES: KC Oto-Pack aids in the treatment of acute and chronic otitis and associated pruritus and inflammation in cases where ketoconazole and hydrocortisone might be effective. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid which may be used to aid in the treatment of pruritus, erythema and other signs of inflammation.

Ketoconazole is an imidazole antifungal agent.

PRE-USE: Prior to applying KC Oto-Pack, after examining the dog or cat, and preferably doing cytology, clean and dry the ear canal using GlycoZoo™ Otic.

Directions For Use

Keep cool/refrigerate before use. While in liquid state, shake or stir well, then add 2-5 mL or more depending upon size of pet, into a clean (feeding) syringe. Allow to warm to room temperature, as cold application may cause an adverse reaction. Insert tip of syringe into ear canal and apply product by pushing the plunger. KC Oto-Pack will begin to thicken as it warms to the pet’s body temperature. Rub ears and prevent head shaking for about a minute to allow product to settle into ear canal and totally thicken. Take precautions to avoid introduction of contaminants. Reapply as needed every 7 days.

CONTRAINDICATION: KC Oto-Pack should not be used in animals with a history of sensitivity to hydrocortisone or ketoconazole.

Avoid contact with eyes. For dog and cat topical use only. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage

Store between 33 and 85° F. After opening container, discard contents after 90 days.
