Rash in Newborns

A blistering rash may a sign that your baby has an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus or the chickenpox virus. It is important for your doctor to know if you think your baby could have been exposed to either of these viruses.

Blisters that look infected, or that are covered by a honey-colored crust, may be a sign of a bacterial infection called impetigo.
