Nutrition Assessment for Infants and Toddlers

Fruits are excellent sources of vitamins (especially vitamin C), minerals, and fiber. Children should eat two to three servings each day.

Keep in mind that serving sizes are smaller for younger children.

Two-year olds

Fresh fruit, cut up - 1/4 to 1/2 piece (approximately 1/4 to 1/2 cup)

Canned or cooked fruit - 1/4 to 1/2 cup

Fruit juice - 1/4 cup (2 ounces)

Three- and four-year olds

Fresh fruit, cut up - 1/2 piece (approximately 1/2 cup)

Canned or cooked fruit - 1/4 to 1/2 cup

Dried fruit - 1/4 cup

Fruit juice - 1/4 to 1/2 cup (2 to 4 ounces)
