Jaundice in Adults

Conditions such as sickle cell disease, thalassemia, or other variations or abnormalities of red blood cells can cause cells to break open during times of illness or stressed health. When red blood cells break apart, this event is called "hemolysis." Hemolysis can cause symptoms of fatigue in addition to jaundice.

You should be evaluated by a physician, such as your primary care doctor or a doctor in an emergency department, as soon as possible.
