Excessive Body and Facial Hair in Women

Women who have too much body hair with normal periods usually have what doctors call idiopathic hirsutism. The cause of idiopathic hirsutism is not known. It may be that your skin and hair follicles are sensitive and overstimulated by testosterone, even though the testosterone level in your blood is normal for a woman.

Just to be sure, your doctor may order a blood test for testosterone (male hormone) to make sure that it is not elevated. Call your doctor's office for advice.
