Diaper Rash

Your child's rash may be irritant dermatitis. This red, irritated rash usually occurs as a result of sensitive skin coming in contact with ammonia in urine and acids in stool. Irritant dermatitis is the most common type of diaper rash. It often happens when babies have diarrhea or frequent bowel movements, are not changed often enough, or wear diapers that are too tight.
