Breast Pain

Women commonly complain of sore nipples when breast feeding, especially during the first few weeks or months. A successful adjustment can be challenging -- whether or not this is your first experience with breast feeding. The pain can be related to your technique or with the baby's suckling.

Call your doctor's office for advice. Your doctor may ask you to speak to the baby's pediatrician or a lactation consultant -- a person who's been trained to help mothers manage difficulties with breast feeding.
